Hopefully Doug Jones can defeat Tuberville and give Alabama a truly qualified Senator.

Tuberville has to get past Jeff Sessions first. There's a still a run-off pending.

Hard Pass....on both of them. Jones voting record is virtually identical to that of the other senator from Alabama, Richard Shelby (https://projects.propublica.org/repr...d-c-shelby/115).
So it wont make any difference which one gets elected....flip a coin...end result is the same. The fact that Jones' voting record virtually mirrors the record of an old curmudgeon like Shelby who's been entrenched in Washington for 30 years tells you all you need to know. As I have painfully pointed out many times (even on here) about our political system, BOTH parties are corrupt as **** and mainly all about getting re-elected and enriching themselves. I have no use for any of them.

Political opinions aside, the main point coming from the poll is that Tuberville has a legitimate chance to join the US Senate. He's up 12 points on Jeff Sessions, a figure that grew after President Trump endorsed him over his estranged AG. Alabama is a bright red state. No Dem, aside from Doug Jones, has won a US Senate race down there since the 1990's and that was Richard Shelby, who switched parties to the GOP in 1994.

Jones won a special election to replace Sessions after the latter joined the Trump administration. His opponent, Roy Moore, is a controversial character to say the least. He was dogged throughout the campaign with questions surrounding unproven allegations of sexual misconduct. Jones benefited from that. He likely will not be able to hold the seat if either Tuberville or Sessions gets the GOP nod.

The Jeff Sessions-Tommy Tuberville US Senate campaign has gotten dirty, but Sessions did get off one funny jab:

He tweeted last week that Tuberville "should man up and face his fears," promising "to use small one-syllable words in a debate."

TT's campaign bus ended up the same way as his coaching career:

With 51% of precincts reporting, TT has been declared the runoff winner over Jeff Sessions. He's up, 63%-37%. So, Tubs will face Doug Jones in November to try to become the Jr. US Senator from AL.

Hope he’s a better Senator than he was was a coach.

He just found a better gig for his retirement, that's all. If Alabama elects him, they deserve him. Every time i saw him yesterday in an MSNBC story, he was wearing his UC gear and it just made me cringe.

He won’t be, which is more of statement about Congress than Tuberville. Every person elected is a pawn for somebody’s personal agenda. Sad but true.

TT has all of the characteristics needed to be a success in D.C.; he likes to (a) drink a lot, (b) play a lot of golf, (c) glad-hand in social settings, and (d) enrich himself at others expense. Looks like a perfect fit to me.
