(UC) will retire No. 36 in honor of alumnus Kevin Youkilis on Saturday, May 16, in conjunction with his retirement from Major League Baseball.

Youkilis, who played at Cincinnati from 1998-2001, will commemorate his MLB career in front of his hometown fans and alma mater. Following the game, a celebratory party will take place on Sheakley Lawn behind the outfield fence.

I wonder if they will put Glen Samples number back into retirement? Or at least place it back on the wall to remember our long time athlete and coach.

I left out this paragraph from the article:
Youkilis will become just the third UC baseball legend to have his number retired, joining Glenn Sample (No. 1) and Ed Jucker (No. 12). Sample coached the Bearcats for 21 seasons from 1961 to 1981, directing UC to four NCAA tournament berths and two Missouri Valley Conference titles while sending more than 50 players to the professional ranks. Jucker, a former three-sport standout at Cincinnati, coached the team for seven seasons from 1954-1960. His 1956 club became the first team in school history to advance to the NCAA Championship and he also coached the men's basketball team to two national titles.

        Thanks.

They used to have Samples number on the outfield wall. They need to put the numbers somewhere to honor the contribution of these players and coaches in the stadium. Not just in the media archives.
