Walk off 3 run homer by Treg Haberkorn to win it in the ninth over NKU, 5-3. Yoakum gets the win in relief. Freshman Joey Wiemer had a good game going 3-4 with a 2B. Late heroics in this one, scoring all the runs in the 8th and 9th.

4 game home series against UT-Martin this weekend with a Double-header on Saturday. Should be nice weather for it.

Ignore what I just said about the road trip. The UT-Martin series has been moved to Cincy thanks to unplayable field conditions in Tennessee.

I've always thought northern baseball teams in college were at a disdvantage. You pretty much have to go on the road during the early season to find warm enough weather to play in. Most of the teams you visit play and prepare outdoors year around. Generally the dominant teams are in the south and west areas of the country.

Despite being a smaller school SHSU is a decent program receiving votes in the polls. Hate to see our guys get swept but it's a long road trip. We come home for NKU and go right back on the road until March 9.

Rough weekend sweep by Sam Houston State over the Bearcats this weekend. Lost 3-5, 2-3 and 6-10. Lack of quality pitching and errors contributed to the losses.

They face NKU tomorrow at Marge Schott Stadium at 4pm.

Nice start to the season. Went 2-1 in Southern California beating Cal once and U of San Diego once. Lost the 2nd game of the double header to San Diego in extras 4-3. We got good starting pitching and timely hitting all weekend.
