  • ESPN chopping block

Huge layoffs coming for ESPN reporters and on-air talent. Brett McMurphy, Dana O'Neill and Danny Kanell have been let go already today from the college coverage teams.

I searched for the names of those who lost their jobs. I recognized the names of ex-athletes and GM-types, but not many of the others. It was another reminder of how little I watch espn anymore, or listen to their radio programs, or read their content on their website. I really only watch games. I can't remember the last time I watched Sports Center. And concerning their talk shows, I can't stand listening to people screaming at and/or over others.

They laid off the people with actual talent and sports insight in favor of the shouters. It's been years since I've watched anything other than an occasional 30 for 30, OTL or more frequently live sports on that network.

I can't believe they let A. Katz go. He has always been my favorite basketball analyst.

Considering that Disney was leaking cash from their ESPN product, they're dumping the longtime, expensive talent. Unfortunately, in some cases, they're also dumping quality.
