KOCH: Happ Excited for Next Career Step
At some point next Monday night during Major League Baseball's first-year player draft, Ian Happ is expected to become the first player in University of Cincinnati history to be selected in the opening round.
If he does, it will provide validation for the dedication and hard work that have defined Happ for the past three years, ever since he arrived in Cincinnati from his hometown of Pittsburgh to play for then-UC coach Brian Cleary.

Huber:Next up for Happ is the decision he must make about his next step. According to MLB draft rules, Happ has until 11:59 p.m. on August 15 to sign with the Cubs. If he does not, and decides to return to Cincinnati for his senior year, Happ can re-enter the draft next June. Bearcats fans would love to see Happ back at Marge Schott Stadium next season, but only time will tell.

Very few people get to be top 10 drafts picks and make it back there again the next year, just ask the kid who went #1 last year how he's healing from Tommy John surgery...
There's a pretty good possibility he plays in the Cubs organization and is traded before getting to the majors. The Cubs have a lot of young talent, so they can afford to make prospects available for trade in a couple years.Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.
