  • UH Suspends Workouts After 6 Student Athletes Test Positive For COVID-19

This could affect the ability of the Cougars to get their football team ready for the season, if more than six players test positive:

Widespread testing and containment is a good thing. Two weeks of quarantine won't negatively affect the players or the teams. With video conferencing and in qurantine exercise, they are still prepping for the upcoming season. Players get sick and all too often come back too soon. I hope other teams learn from Houston's mistake. Most of these universities have the capability to set up testing and analysis labs on campus that meet the CLIA guidelines. Testing everyone on campus may be a stretch, but offering it to any student and doing random testing should be part of the overall plan. BTW - he testing is supposed to be terribly uncomfortable.

Has anyone seen if they are testing players for the antibody or only the active virus?

Now, eight K-State football players have tested positive for COVID-19 after returning to campus for voluntary workouts. The linked article was written earlier in the day and it indicates four players involved, plus six more quarantined with them because of contact tracing.

This is why you test everyone. Asymptomatic carriers.
