Joker Phillips moving on

Joker will be leaving to join Mike Locksley’s staff at Maryland per footballscoop.com. I think this is the position that Butch Jones was originally going to fill.

Didn’t know this was coming but not terribly surprised. I though Joker was underemployed as a WR coach based on his coaching history honestly.

I'm not too worried about this loss. Joker is a worldly guy who has been on NFL staffs and some decent college staffs. I think he had a lot of knowledge to share about the game. He didn't have a ton to work with in the receiver corps, but did a fair job. He was probably looking to take the OC position if Denbrock left. Since that didn't happen, he started looking for greener pastures. He's not really going to make a big name for himself as a WR coach for a team with mediocre WR's.

Joker's been at 6 jobs in past 8 years. Saw somewhere else he also just got divorced so he's like changing his venue.
