I don't know if anyone else had this impression, but it always seemed to me that Navy cadets, including athletes, were destined to fly jets or operate aboard ships in some capacity. Not Zach Abey, the Navy QB. He selected and was accepted as a Marine infantry officer. I wish him well, as that's exceedingly dangerous work (not that the others are without risk).

Most Naval Academy grads wind up on some type of ship. The cream of the crop get selected for pilots if they are so inclined but its an exclusive group. Some request Marine assignments. You don't always get what you want but these guys are special people. I agree with you Zach's request is particularly dangerous. He must me be a tough son of a gun. I wish him luck and a safe career and thank him for his sacrifice.
