  • Admin Notes 2020

If you tried opening an account here in the last 90 days please check your account. I just found several new user accounts sitting in a bucket where you hadn't responded to the email verification. Not sure if the email isn't working properly on our server or if your verifications went to your spam but regardless i just cleared about 20 people.

Those who have been cleared to post will be moderated for your first 5 posts. One of the admins or mods has to clear your post before it will show up in a thread. I try and take of this daily but if I miss one, send me a private message.

    Technical note here.

Starting in March, web browsers manufacturers are going to stop honoring a web protocol called TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1. Without going into crazy tech details, there's a possibility those of you using an out of date version of your browser MIGHT have some issues loading the site when these changes roll out. The site is already capable of handling the next version of the protocol so if you start getting weird errors update your browser version.

Also, something related. If you're still using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you really shouldn't be at this point. It's not safe to use anymore and hasn't been for a while. Suggest you update to Firefox, Chrome, or the brand new version of Microsoft Edge that they rolled out last month. The new version of Edge is now available for platform other than Windows (Mac, Linux, Etc.) if you're looking to switch to something new.

There's also a really interesting alternative browser that just flat out blocks all ads, tracking and pop ups without a browser extension called Brave that I'm a big fan of. I'd call Brave an expert level browser compared the rest of them. The guy that was responsible for Brave was originally the founder at Firefox.

Mac users: Safari updates with the operating system so there's no link to work with below. This does not mean you can't switch the one of the ones listed below if you're not a Safari fan, like me.

    Firefox : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/
    Chrome: https://www.google.com/chrome/
    Edge: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge
    Brave: https://brave.com/

Anyone who clicked on the Early College Football Ranking topics links posted to the Football and Basketball forums this morning should run a virus scan on their computer. The link were scams and caused various popups and additional browser tabs to occur. I personally did not get a malware warning from clicking on it from my antivirus but my router flagged it and blocked whatever it was trying to install. Thanks to red_n_black_attack for flagging the links. I think he mentioned it was trying to install a garbage version of Adobe Flash which this site does not use. The topics have been deleted and the user banned and blocked
