    The Rules.

This is our house - We reserve the right to remove any post or user from our message boards - although we have no duty to do so. When posts are deleted, it’s usually because they violate one or more of our house rules. Or we just felt like it. Repeated violation of these rules may result in the suspension of your posting privileges.

Be nice - We don’t allow obscene, racist or sexually explicit language or images inside posts or private messages. Personal attacks are not permitted. We reserve the right to remove posts that are abusive, hateful, or defame or insult anyone. We also reserve the right to remove or move posts that are off-topic or is deemed by us to be unsuitable for any other reason.

Monitoring - Considering the real-time nature of the board, it is impossible for us to review messages constantly. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of and are not responsible for any messages posted.

No advertising - No solicitations or advertisements are allowed. This includes advertisements for your business, your own online endeavors or the latest get-rich-quick scheme. Self-serving advertisements will be removed. Such content will be determined solely by the staff.

Links - You may link to other informational Web sites when relevant. The ‘link’ tool is highly recommended. Pay links are ok, but it would be polite to label them (ex: "$$"). Do not repost full articles when a link will do. There are other sources of Bearcat info like the University site, fan sites like Scout and Rivals and other media like newspapers. Respect necessary copyright rules.

Message Titles – Be smart about appropriate message titles. “Bearcats” is not a good message title because this is a Bearcats board so theoretically every post could be labeled “Bearcats”. Do not write "Seven foot basketball player is a Bearcat", unless the seven footer has really committed because that title is a statement. "Seven foot basketball player is a Bearcat?" is a question and therefore more appropriate. We will change the titles of messages if we deem it necessary. It is also standard message board protocol to not use all capital letters at anytime.

No ‘teasing’ - If you know something or imply you know something, say it. Comments like "I can't say" or "I have to wait to tell you later" are useless and only serve the writer's ego. Also be aware that sarcasm works because of the smirk on your face or the tone of your voice - neither of which are available on this message board. A 'smiley' at the end of a sarcastic note doesn't make it ok. If you want to be funny, be funny, but sarcasm usually causes groans, not laughter.

User Names - Choose a user name carefully. You may not use names that are offensive, that suggest illegal activities or that are meant to imitate other users. Any such names/users will be deleted.

No name calling - If you disagree with a writer, focus your response on the words, not the writer. If you remove pronouns (you, yours, mine) from the response, that response will more likely be fine. This would make for good reading to understand this thought.

Privacy - You must respect the privacy of individuals. This means no private information is to be revealed about other users. We discourage users from posting such information even about themselves, as we cannot control how that information may be used beyond this message boards. Discussion about off-the-court player concerns must be focused on factual and widely reported info by major media outlets and not 'rumors'.

You chose to come here - You participate at your own risk on the board, chat rooms, personal messages (PM’s) and in e-mail. You take responsibility for postings under your user name and use the information provided here at your own risk. BearcatNews.com and its administrators take no responsibility for the content or opinions posted here.

We reserve the right to change or amend these rules anytime we darn well please. We also reserve the right to give a little more slack to long-time Bearcat fans whom we know well or have been around since the 1960's or something.

Decisions of moderators and administrators are final.
Why? Because this is our house.
