I hope he does well here.

Fun fact - he is Cameron Dollar’s brother.
He's been at UGA since 2018, so sounds like maybe his 3rd spot in 5 years?

Georgia has landed five 4-stars in the last three years plus Anthony Edwards. Not saying he's going to start bringing in UK, Duke type classes (obviously he's not) but given where UC is at right now in the basketball landscape (and trajectory under Brannen) and their recent recruiting efforts, seems like as good as they could have done. Besides, if the alternative was, say, a guy from the UNCG staff this past year - seems like a win.

UC's most recent "third" assistants were Tim Morris (via NKU), Greg Youncofski (bumped up from video coordinator after Larry Davis out), and Antwon Jackson (via UMass). I'll take a coach from a "power" league.

From Justin Williams, who called it "huge" - Dollar brings more high-major coaching & recruiting experience to UC, & has key in-roads in the south. Recruiting a No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft is a nice line on the resume as well.

I’d love to have a former player who spent more than 1 year here.

I like what I see in this staff the WM has assembled. It is quite an improvement from the assistants Brannen had on his staff. I am optimistic about what lies ahead for the program.

ATHENS — Georgia men’s basketball is losing one of its top recruiters to another team.

Chad Dollar, an Atlanta native and SEC coaching veteran, is leaving the Bulldogs to accept a position on the staff at Cincinnati under new head coach Wes Miller, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution confirmed. Dollar is credited for helping Georgia coach Tom Crean penetrate the complicated Atlanta AAU circuit for top recruits, including 2020 No. 1 NBA Draft pick Anthony Edwards.

The Dollars are known as one of the first families of Atlanta basketball. Dollar’s father, longtime Douglass High coach Don Dollar, was one of the pioneers of the AAU basketball movement in the city. Chad’s brother, Cameron, was a top prospect who won a national championship at UCLA in 1995 and is now an NBA assistant coach.

Chad Dollar, 49, worked at Auburn and LSU before coming to Georgia to join Crean’s staff three years ago.

FYI.... I found this interesting.. Duke's Nolan Smith: UC Bearcats bringing DerMarr Johnson back would be 'really smart move'

Former Duke University standout Nolan Smith - currently an assistant coach for the Blue Devils - tweeted Tuesday that it would be a "really smart move" by Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Wes Miller to find former UC standout DerMarr Johnson a spot on Miller's staff:

              https://bearcatnews.com/core/%22https:
Smith was promoted to assistant coach for Duke earlier this month after three seasons as the Blue Devils' director of basketball operations and player development. Johnson, who played one season at UC before leaving for the NBA, tweeted a video last year of himself dunking at age 40.

Miller reportedly is adding Georgia Bulldogs assistant Chad Dollar to a coaching staff that includes former UNC Greensboro assistants Chris LePore, Andre Morgan and Mike Roberts.

Sounds like a pretty well established warm market to have attached to his name. I'm sure his name carries weight in many gyms outside of Atlanta also. Feels like a big time snag

I think we're going to eventually add DJ to the staff. All signs pointing that direction.

Mike's new title is Asst. AD of sports performance. That's a promotion from his old title here.

Do you/anyone know the actual story of MR leaving here in the first place? The rumors a year ago involved Cunningham (similar, in some ways, to the whole Brannen investigation/coaching stuff in recent months where certain people seemed to paint JC in a negative light based on rumors but when all is/was said and done and we get some actual facts and "good news," there is no accountability for anyone that dragged JC). Maybe Cunningham was in part "at fault" before and they are now better aligned/on the same page. But I have a hard time believing that MR would be returning if Cunningham truly alienated him and deprioritized the basketball S&C / was unwilling to invest in him a year ago.

Either way, glad to have Rehfeldt back. He was a guy I never wanted to move on, but knew he inevitably would...but maybe he will end up being here for quite some time minus this past season.
