Memphis is 12-3 overall and currently ranked #21 . They have a loss to Oregon on a neutral court, a road loss to Wichita St and a home loss to Georgia. The loss to Wichita St. will probably knock them out of the top 25 tomorrow. They are led by 5 star freshman Precious Achiuwa at PF. Achiuwa averages a double double. 5 Star James Wiseman has gone pro after being ruled ineligible for taking a payment from Penny Hardaway to help his family relocate to Memphis. We have two common opponents with them in Tulane and Tennesee. Memphis won both contests.

Memphis is really young team. There are 7 freshman, 4 sophs, no juniors and 1 senior. They go 10 deep despite the loss of Wiseman and no one averages more than 28 minutes per game. This is a game where we have the potential for a track meet to break out and that would probably result in UC losing because of Memphis' depth. The key to this game for UC is going to be limiting turnovers and transition defense. You cannot let Memphis run constantly. On the flip side, their half court offense is fairly terrible if the Tennessee game is any indication so making them run offense is crucial.

After all the preseason hype and despite the recruiting haul for Memphis, this is not the best team we've played this year. That was Ohio St. If you'd like to check them out, they play today on ESPN2 at 4:00 at USF.

FWIW only dropped to 22 in the new AP poll. Good for us.

Shocked at this stat: UC first in the league in 3 point defense. When was the last time UC was first in this category? Seems like they were always the bottom dwellers.

"UC entered this week as AAC leaders in scoring defense (first at 56.2), scoring margin (first at +14.0), field goal percentage defense (first at .366), 3-point field goal percentage defense (first at .217) and rebounding defense (first at 28.5)"

Defense has been better than last year. Problem is offense in our losses, just couldn't hit shots. Turnovers are/were expected for a variety of reasons, but a lot of missed ft's and wide open looks. Let's hope our recent improvements stick!

I have said it before, correct the turnover and FT shooting issues and this is a different team. This is on the players.

Have felt pretty good about this one, but my gut still says close L. Hope I'm wrong!

Down 11 at half, another horrible first half in a road game.

He plays on the offensive end like a guy who got picked out of the crowd to play in a halftime contest. He should be embarrassed.

This team looks like Cronin's teams his first 4 years here, in the BE, but this ain't the Big East.

Jekyl and Hyde syndrome again. Tale of two teams. Not the same team in both halves

3:00 left and Cumberland absolutely gets mobbed in the lane - no foul call and Brannen gets called for a T! What a JOKE! HOMER! Cumberland has been hacked multiple times going to the rim, I'm sure there's been some misses on our end but this is pathetic.
