Good article. Thanks for posting. Here's a good quote from the article:

"They’re going after the coaches. (Somewhere, Bill Self and Sean Miller just twitched.) And only the coaches. Which is, of course, the most NCAA way of doing things. Find a few convenient targets, slap them around, but never tinker with the spigot that gushes money. The basketball schools involved in this scandal are too big to fail. Not just Kansas and Arizona, but ACC schools like Louisville and Miami and, yes, N.C. State -- which under Debbie Yow’s watch hired Gottfried and Early and strengthened its ties with Adidas, creating the conditions and atmosphere that led to the at-all-costs pursuit of Smith, only to then turn around and claim victimhood at the hands of ... Adidas.

Prosecutors let the schools play the victim even as they still took their millions from Adidas, but they had to, because it was the only legal justification to make bribing a basketball prospect a federal crime. The NCAA wasn’t obligated to take that approach. It chose that approach.

Gottfried gets hit for failing to monitor his program.

No one gets hit for failing to monitor Gottfried"

Hmmm . Utahhhhhhhhh. Didn’t see that one coming. And it wasn’t even about Kyle Kuzma.

This is weird. Auburn, post Chuck Person problems, apparently walloped itself internally with recruiting restrictions for Bruce Pearl and his staff to the point where no basketball recruiting, evaluations, etc. were done in 2017-18. Here's the thing though. It didn't tell anybody, like at all, outside the program.. They clammed up about it.

GA Tech just got nailed. 4 years probation, 1 year tourney ban, loss of 4 schollies, show cause for former assistant coach, vacated wins, no recruits allowed to take official visits on days when Tech plays a home game (so loss of atmosphere).

Somehow, with a five year losing record & no NCAA tourney bids, Pastner will stay .. at least for now.

None of this is related to Shoegate. Just shady recruiting practices.

Ahh the strip club thing will get you every time. Incredible that Pastner is clean on this whole mess. I'm betting he still gets a game suspension for lack of oversight.

Will the Jayhawks get the same treatment as the Mary Hardin-Baylor football team?

Baylor didn't even get the same treatment as Mary Hardin-Baylor.

What a recruiting advantage. Come to Mary Hardin-Baylor & get to drive the coach’s 10-year-old jalopy with a history of breakdowns.

The sound you hear is that of Bruce Pearl whistling past the graveyard:

Well, the NCAA will end up punishing somebody. I'd hate to be Creighton right now.

Speaking of Creighton, Ex-Creighton Coach Dana Altman at Oregon probably ought to be looking over his shoulder as well.
