A couple of the BCJ folks are saying that a former coach fed the info to the Syracuse reporter who then published. Mika has not made an actual announcement about this himself. Extremely weird.

Just from my point of view, BCJ doesn’t have an exclusive on announcements but both they and the coaches are not going to announce something before the kid does. I always try and wait as well and let the player have the spotlight. The Syracuse reporter appears to have screwed this up for Mika. If that’s the case then the whole situation sucks.

Looks like the big delay may have something to do with Minnesota's announcement that Amir Coffey was staying in the draft. Appears that at some point Adams-Woods possibly reconsidered.

So he could pick Gophers? No financial aid agreement for UC, yet.

I would think by now it's settled. Coffey declared almost a day ago so that was out there a while. However, in this business it's done when someone gets here. Plus, it's awful cold in the winter in Minnesota.

@AdamFinkelstein of ESPN: Hearing Cincinnati landed @NHSHuskySports & @TheCityRocks guard Mika Adams-Woods. Long & skilled lefty combo. Thought he was under-valued late. Solid addition for Cincy.

Adams-Woods, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound guard from Syracuse, N.Y., earned New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class AAA first-team honors each of the past two seasons at the New Hampton School in New Hampshire. Adams-Woods was rated as the No. 10 prospect in New England by the New England Recruiting Report and the No. 2 player in the state. He was also the No. 34 point guard nationally according to Rivals.com.

The left-hander averaged 19.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.9 steals while shooting 52.5 percent from three-point range during the 2018-19 season. In his first season at New Hampton, Adams-Woods helped lead his team to a runner-up finish at the 2018 NEPSAC AAA Championship while averaging 16.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.9 steals.

"Mika is a long, skilled lefty point guard," Brannen said. "He is a very good shooter with deep range and consistently makes the right play. Mika also causes havoc defensively with his 6-foot-7 wingspan.

"More than anything, Mika adds to our culture. He is a fierce competitor and brings tremendous energy every day. His mature approach will help him contribute early in his career."

Prior to attending New Hampton, Adams-Woods spent three seasons at Bishop Ludden High School in Syracuse, N.Y., where he scored over 1,200 points. He averaged 19.8 points as a junior in 2016-17 while earning first-team All-Central New York honors.

Adams-Woods signed a grant-in-aid with the Bearcats and will have four seasons of eligibility beginning 2019-20.
