4/27: "Earlier this week 6'3 Jerome Gumbs from Glasgow (Barren County) KY, who came out of nowhere at the tryouts for the Kentucky All-Star Team to make the team, visited the University of Cincinnati, but it appears the Bearcats weren't ready to offer him a scholarship. So, instead, he has signed with the University of San Francisco." - HoopScoop

4/27: "Barren County's Jerome Gumbs, who was a transfer from Miami Berkshire, has signed to play basketball at the University of San Francisco. He averaged 24 points and 13.8 rebounds and recently was named a Kentucky All-Star." Gumbs had been rumored to be in Clifton just last weekend (Mike). - Louisville C-J

4/23: "The surprise of the (KY All Star) team was probably 6'4 Jerome Gumbs from Glasgow (Barren County) KY. Evansville has offered and Cincinnati is looking, but he'd perfect for the right mid-major looking for an athletic scoring 2-guard." - Hoop Scoop

4/21: "Barren County senior Jerome Gumbs was one of 13 players named to the Kentucky All-Star basketball team Sunday at Lexington Catholic High School, one of the highest honors a Kentucky prep can acheive.
Gumbs, an exchange student who played one season with the Trojans, is believed to be the first Barren County player to earn a spot on the team, which will play a pair of games against the Indiana All-Stars on consecutive Saturdays in June - Game 1 is set for June 16 in Owensboro, while Game 2 is June 23 in Indianapolis. "This is a big deal for everybody associated with the county," said Trojans head coach John Tinsley. "He played at a championship level all weekend."
Gumbs was in class Monday morning and was not available for comment.
The 6-4 guard averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds this season for the Trojans. His athleticism and quickness has attracted several Division I schools, though Cincinnati, San Fransisco and Evansville appear to be the finalists. He turned down a scholarship offer from UAB Monday morning. Six of the 13 roster positions on the boys' team were filled by Louisville-area players, and Tinsley thinks Gumbs has the ability to steal the show from some of the state's bigger names.
"He was that good (in tryouts)," Tinsley said. "He fits in real well with the other players." Gumbs joins Mr. Basketball and fellow Region 4 player Josh Carrier of Bowling Green, along with Louisville standouts Brandon Bender and Adam Chiles of Ballard and Larry O'Bannon of Male. Male's Bryce Hibbard will coach the squad." - Glasgow Daily Times

Aug 2000: Played at the Nike Global Challenge on the Virgin Islands team. The team placed 9th out of 16 teams. (The tourney was won by Josh Pastner's Houston Hoops)
