6/13/02: Hite was announced as one of the six finalists for the male Cincinnati High School Athlete of the Year Award. "Hite led his team to the city basketball championship in each of the last three years, as the Warriors compiled a 59-1 regular season record. Hite, a guard, is the school's career scoring leader with 1,384 points and has earned the honors of Ohio Co-Player of the Year, Fort Ancient Valley Conference Player of the Year, Cincinnati Player of the Year, and Southwest District Player of the Year. This year Hite averaged 18 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He will play basketball next year at the University of Miami (Fla.)." - Enquirer.com
5/9/02: Ranked 47th best player in the country. - Hoop Scoop
1/7/02: "While Miami (FL) may have surprised the basketball pundits thus far with its undefeated start, the Hurricanes shocked many recruiting analysts when they dipped into Big 10/Conference USA country this past fall to land athlete deluxe Robert Hite of Winton Woods H.S. in Cincinnati, Ohio. "I thought Miami was the place for me to be," Hite said. "The coaching staff was real nice, real cool, and I saw a good opportunity to go down there and making things happen and change the program around." - Rivals Hoops

12/27: "Robert Hite and C.J. Anderson each sank two three throws during the final 45 seconds, giving the Warriors the come-from-behind victory (for a 57-43 victory over Towson (Md.) Catholic). Trailing 31-29 at halftime, Winton Woods steadily pulled back into the game and went ahead with three minutes remaining on Hite's three-point play, including a dunk over Towson's 6-foot-10, 265-pound center, Byron Joynes. “We got in foul trouble the first half and had to go into a zone,” Winton Woods coach David Lumpkin said. “All the games were closely officiated, and it took us a half to adjust.” Hite led Winton with 16 points." - Enquirer.com
Had been offered by UC.
12/1: Hite is ranked the 87th best player in his class. I like this ranking the best (by RSCI), because it uses a consensus from six different recruiting "experts". - Mike Ryan
12/01/01: "Senior guard Robert Hite scored 21 points for the Warriors, who extended their 41-game regular-season winning streak. Held to just four points on 2-of-7 shooting in the first half, he scored five straight points to cap a 10-0 run that put Winton Woods back in command, 36-24 with 3:29 left in the third quarter.
Hite scored 11 points in the quarter, including the longest shot of his career — a high-arching 27-foot 3-pointer as the horn sounded to end the quarter. It must have been a pleasant sight for his future college coach, Perry Clark of Miami (Fla.), who sat courtside. “He called me and told me he was going to be here,” Hite said. “We came out a little too hyped up and that hurt us a little, but we finished strong and that's all that counts.” “One thing about Rob is he'll step up in big games,” Lumpkin said." - Enquirer.com
9/12: "Miami reportedly has received a commitment from Rob Hite, a 6-2 combo guard from Cincinnati (OH) Woods. Hite took an official visit to Miami last weekend, and coach Perry Clark was able to seal the deal with a prime target. Rob picked the Canes over Tennessee, Georgetown, Iowa State and Cincinnati. Hite will bring a boost of athleticism to the Hurricane backcourt. He's very fast in transition, and he jumps well enough to finish over much bigger players on the break. The southpaw also has good strength and body control, which enables him to finish inside even after taking a hit. His jumpshot needs improvement, but he did show at July's ABCD camp that he can hit from medium-range. Because he's such an athlete and tall at 6-2, Hite should have no trouble guarding point guards at the next level. Based largely on his athleticism, he ranks No. 87 in the Class of 2002." - PrepStars
9/11: "Robert Hite, a 6-3 shooting guard at Winton Woods High in Cincinnati, committed to join the Miami Hurricanes for the 2002-03 season. Hite made an official visit to Miami during the weekend and committed to the coaches during the trip. Miami's appeal was its prime location, in addition to the possibility of abundant playing time and an opportunity to compete in the Big East Conference. For The Sporting News, analyst Dave Telep ranked Hite No. 99 among high school senior prospects. Hite is quick, jumps well and is a proficient shooter from 3-point range. He averaged 18.5 points as a junior at Winton Woods. In July, he attended the adidas ABCD Camp, averaging 6.9 points and shooting 44 percent from the floor. Hite also was being recruited by Tennessee, Dayton, Xavier and Georgetown." - DeCourcy, Sporting News
9/6: "Robert Hite recuiting dates for the next few weeks: Miami/Florida Sept 7 thru Sept 9; Georgetown Sept 14 thru Sept 16; Tennessee Sept 28 thru Sept 30. Not offical visiting Xavier or Dayton because he has visited both school on numerous opportunities. Hite mention decision will come after the Tennessee visit. All gardes and test scores are in order." - Mike Duncan, Ohio Preps
9/2: "Robert Hite represents a possible fit for Xavier's final basketball scholarship. What he also would rate to XU fans is a moral victory. Among early rankings, the Winton Woods guard is the top player in Greater Cincinnati — rated as high as 50th by CNNSI.com. XU hasn't landed the top-rated local recruit since the 1980s; it's believed Byron Larkin (Moeller, 1984) was the last such signee. Since Bob Huggins took over at Cincinnati, the top player has often gone to Clifton: John Jacobs, Keith Gregor, Bobby Brannen, Ryan Fletcher, Eugene Land and (indirectly) Damon Flint. Others have signed elsewhere. Winton Woods coach Dave Lumpkin said XU has made a big push for his 6-foot-2 shooting guard, who averaged 18.5 points last year. “They've never wavered in their stance; they want Robert,” he said. Lumpkin said Hite is no longer considering UC and is down to five finalists: XU, Dayton, Georgetown, Tennessee and Miami (Fla.). He plans to visit all five this month and make a fall decision." - Enquirer.com (5 to 1)
8/24: "And (Xavier's) class, which currently is ranked #15, could move all the way up to #4 behind Louisville and ahead of Iowa, if the Musketeers also get 6'2 Robert Hite from Cincinnati (Winton Woods) OH and 6'0 Dedrick Finn from Newburgh (Castle) IN. Currently Xavier is the leader for both Hite and Finn." - HoopScoop
8/24: "I am also interested in Xavier, Cincinnati, Iowa State, and Dayton," Hite told us. "I hope to make a decision in the Fall. (in addition to Miami, FLA)" - Rivals Hoops
8/20: "The university of Dayton played host to three of the top players in the state of Ohio as Robert Hite, Doug Scott and Robert Siwo all were on campus this weekend to check things out. Hite is a 6'2 175 lb Wing Guard from Cincinnati Winton Woods who is an explosive athlete with plenty of raw talent and major hops! His school list includes: Dayton, Cincinnati, Xavier, Ohio State, and Louisville, Kentucky" - Prep Spotlight
8/15: Hite has been offered by Miami, Cincinnati, Xavier, Dayton and Tennessee. He is scheduled to vist Miami, FL. - Blue Chip Hoops
8/9: "I can say Tennessee, Miami FL, and 3 local schools stay in the mix, but HITE is WIDE OPEN !" - Ozie Davis, Hite's AAU Coach
8/9: "In terms of national name recognition among recruiting fans, Rob Hite's reputation doesn't equal that of his peers among the nation's top 100 players. But the 6-2 guard from Cincinnati (OH) Woods doesn't need the widespread props; he earned all the attention necessary over summer to garner accolades from scouts and overtures from college coaches. His current hit list includes the hometown BEARCATS, Xavier, Georgetown, Dayton, Miami, Tennessee and Illinois. And he's willing to take his time as more schools join the fray. "I don't have any favorites, and I'm not rushing to make a decision," Hite told PrepStars.com. The best way to recruit Rob? Offer him plenty of minutes early in his career. "I want to go somewhere I can play right away," Hite said, "somewhere I can make an early impact." Hite is likely to receive his wish. The slender, left-handed wing showed in July that he's an outstanding leaper who finishes with authority on the break. He gets up and down the floor with the fastest players in the class. And his jumpshot, despite bouts of inconsistency when we viewed him, has range to the three-point stripe. In our post-summer rankings, Hite rates No. 88 among prep seniors." - PrepStars
8/5: "My favorite sleeper candidate. A tremendously athletic scorer that plays much bigger than his listed 6-1 height. Not afraid to take it to the rack against anyone, including the elite big men. Has serious hops and, to borrow a football expression, his motor really runs." - Inside Carolina
8/2: "Combo guard Robert Hite still puts Cincy in his Final 3, but word has it that Xavier may lead." - Bullseye, AllStar Report
8/2: RivalsHoops is reporting that Hite is 'wide open' and hopes to make a Fall decision. Cincinnati is still included.
8/1: "He scored 24 in an opening round loss but his athleticism was quite noticeable. This was a good rebound performance after he was just so-so at the big shoe camp earlier in the month. Queen City might have been a tougher out if Robert Hite, his high school teammate and running mate had been alongside him." - BlueChip Hoops
7/31: "Robert Hite gets my award for most impressive athlete here. Robert Hite was very impressive for Queen City. The 6'2 guard is extremely quick with great hops. He got to the basket very easily against a talented BABC team. Pitino was watching him closely and grabbed his coach immediately afterwards." - Peegs
7/31: "We believe that Xavier is the leader for 6'2 Robert Hite from Cincinnati (Winton Woods) OH, but Cincinnati, Ohio State, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Tennessee, Louisville, and numerous others are showing interest, especially after the way he played yesterday at the 2001 AAU Junior Boys' Basketball National Championship.
7/30: Robert Hite scored 21 points in a win at the AAU National Tournament.
7/28: "Cincy is still in very strong for 6'2 Robert Hite and has an excellent chance of landing him." - AllStar Report
7/24: "In stark contrast, both 5-10 Kentucky PG Brandon Stockton (who plans to attend Kentucky) and 6-2 Ohio WG/PG Rob Hite have plummeted from the top 60 to outside the national top 100. (He)is a transition player who can definitely leap, but he tended to do little in the halfcourt set at the adidas ABCD Camp." - Brick O., CNN SI
7/14: Listed as the 57th best player in his class - RSCI Consensus
7/13: "ABCD Camp TOTALS: 7.6 points, 1.9 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.6 turnovers, 0.5 steals, 44.2 fg, 25.0 3-pt, 75% ft. Played in 7 games. Grade C+: Hustled and played good solid defense each game. Very aggressive on both ends and rebounded well for a guard. Showed flashes of leaping abilities at times. This combo-guard did well switching to both positions throughout the games. Showed colleges that he is a solid combo guard. Played within himself and went with the flow most games." - Ohio Preps
7/12: Listed as the 19th best guard at the abcd camp. - HoopScoop
7/11: "Hite came to the camp with a big reputation, but he didn't play as well as he'd like. He did show a burst of speed in the open court and the ability to finish above the rim, but the southpaw's stroke was absent from the perimeter and he failed to keep himself involved at all times. Worth a longer (look) at future events." - PrepStars
7/11: Game 7: 14 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assist, 0 turnovers, 5/9 fg, 1/1 3-pt, 3/4 ft.
Game 8: didn't play due to twisting ankle late in game 7.

7/9: Hite is playing on the same team as fellow target John WInchester at the abcd Camp.
7/9: Winton Woods and Roger Bacon will play in the important "Slam Dunk To The Beach" this December in Delaware.
7/5: Hite is listed as the 48th best player in his class. - ESPN
7/3: Hite is listed as the 83rd best player in his class. - Hoop Scoop (4 to 5)
6/8/01: "Winton Woods lost in the sectional championship last year, but that’s not likely to happen next season as its two best players, Robert Hite and DeForrest Riley, will be seniors. Each is receiving plenty of recruiting attention heading into July. Winton Woods head coach David Lumpkin has himself a pretty good basketball team this year. Guards Robert Hite and DeForrest Riley are going to play college ball at a very high level. So far, each has received significant recruiting interest and some pretty good offers are on the table. Hite, a 6-2 combo guard, averaged 18 points per game last season. “He’s just very explosive and athletic,” Lumpkin said. “He shoots the three, a little streaky but he can score points in bunches. Robert gives you a lot of that aggressiveness that coaches look for.” Thus far, Xavier, CINCINNATI, Ohio State and Purdue have offered, according to Lumpkin. Clemson and Notre Dame are also showing interest and Lumpkin thinks the list will only grow after the summer. Riley, another combo guard, is the newcomer to Winton Woods. He transferred in last year from Monroe, La. Riley turned in a successful season in Cincinnati as he was also named all-conference and all-city after averaging 14 points and six assists. Tulane, Miami-OH and Xavier have offered Riley. Seton Hall, Marquette and Ohio State are inquiring about him and he’s on the watch list of those teams. Both Riley and Hite play with the Queen City Prophets and will attend either adidas or Nike Camp in July. “I think Louisville has shown a serious interest in both,” Lumpkin said. “Most of the schools that are recruiting them both are going to more or less look for whoever commits first. Both kids are very unselfish.” - BlueChip Hoops
5/4: listed as the 42nd best player in the country, in his class. - PrepStars
4/29: Was listed as one of the best Juniors in the MidWest. - Midwest Hoops
13. Chris Hunter 6'10 Gary, IN
15. Matt Trannon 6'6 Flint, MI
17. Alex Carmona 6'4 Troy, OH
22. Robert Hite 6'1 Cincinnati, OH
23. Chris Quinn 6'0 Dublin, OH
24. Greg Brown 6'1 Milwaukee, WI
4/11: "Two highly regarded underclassmen in this region are 6-2 junior Rob Hite of Cincinnati Winton Woods and 5-10 junior Daniel (Dee) Brown of Maywood (Ill.) Proviso East." - Brick O., CNNSI
4/9: "I think (UC) has a good shot at both Carmona and Hite. I think UC leads for Carmona and XU leads for Hite, but it is very early." - John Stovall, MidWest Hoops
OFFERED SCHOLARSHIP (per Hite's HS coach, 12/00)
3/2: Hite was 3-7 from the trey line and 10-17 overall in scoring 27 pts, in a loss to West Hi (and Horace and Peterson) ending their undefeated season.
2/20: "Riley and Hite have no match talent wise in the state. This team is young also. Best Player: 6'2 Jr. Robert Hite. Key Players: 6'5 Sr. Paul Mills and 6'4 Sr. DeForrest Riley" - MidWest Hoops
2/19: "How is this for seeing some good games ? Winton Woods Robert Hite, the most sought after junior in the city is planning to take unoffical visits to Dayton, Notre Dame, Indiana and Kentucky over the next couple of weeks. Hite has already been to Ohio State, Xavier, CINCINNATI and Michigan State." - Ohio Preps
2/12: Some notes from Robert's mssg board on Ohio Preps
"I would compare myself to Ray Allen because I like his game."
"I would like to go to school with Keith (Jackson of Purcell) or Deforest Riley, cause I like playing with them. I make them better and they do the same for me."
"Dayton is on my list. I'm taking an unofficial there Saturday (the 17th) with Deforest Riley."
"UC is an option for school, but I'm still undecided. (UC FBall signee) Kenwood Latimore is a great person and super athlete. UC got a steal in Kenwood."
2/9: I watched Robert Hite tonight against Turpin. The entire Winton Woods team is an athletic bunch and ran full court defense in the first three quarters. Turpin was smart and made some good passing, but the athleticism that Hite, Riley et al displayed was too much.
Hite himself had an average game, making just one three. He got the rest of his 20 total points close to the hoop or at the FT line. He is a good raw athlete, just like Huggs likes 'em. His stroke is good mechanically, he was just 'off' this evening. Coach Lumpkin works his guys hard, still emotionally charged with a 20+ point lead in the second half. If Hite attends UC, it will be an easy transition in this regard ;-) - Mike Ryan
2/3: "I was at Glen Este this past Friday and saw coach Mick Cronin." - Forum contributor 'dfort'
2/3: "Robert Hite poured in 34 points to lead Winton Woods, the No.1 team in The Enquirer's Division I poll, over Glen Este 81-48. Winton Woods is now 16-0." - Enquirer
1/24: scored 18 pts in a 30 point win over Xenia. The Warriors, ranked No.2 in the Enquirer's Division I poll, pushed their regular-season winning streak to 33 games.
1/23: "is a 6'2 wing guard at Cincinnati Winton Woods. He is averaging close to 18ppg and his team is undefeated at 12-0 and rated #3 in Ohio by Prep Spotlight/Midwest Hoops. Robert is a tremendous athlete, like Superman he can leap tall buildings in a single bound. Robert can also drill jumpers consistently from 3 point range. He is being recruited by Xavier, Ohio State, Michigan State, Purdue, Illinois and Tennessee among others. Robert is the current #1 Junior Ohio. The battle for #1 will not be answered until after this summer. Robert will be attending the Adidas ABCD camp in July." - MidWest Hoops
1/19:
http://enquirer.com/editions/2001/01/19/spt_no_1_winton_woods.html
"Hite and (DeForrest) Riley haven't gone unnoticed by college recruiters. Together, they have made unofficial visits to Purdue, Ohio State, Xavier and CINCINNATI. “Robert is such an outstanding shooter, I sometimes get on him to shoot more,” Lumpkin said. “But he is uncomfortable shooting more, and I want him to be comfortable with his game.” - Cin Enquirer
1/11: "Hite is an amazing athlete who can rise like a mini Vince Carter. If Hite improves his ball handling. . . he could be special." - Vince Baldwin, MidWest Hoops
1/10: "Robert Hite scored 29 points and Winton Woods, tied with Western Hills for No.2 in the Enquirer's Division I coaches poll, opened the game with a 15-0 run and cruised. Hite also pulled in 10 rebounds." - Cin Enquirer
1/7: Notes from Robert Hite's Message Board:
"I was at the game last night (Charlotte), but I have not scheduled an official visit yet."
"I think I can play wing guard and point guard (in college). The 6-5 to 6-7 guys have to guard me too, plus my hops help a little in that regard. I'm a basketball player, I just try to win basketball games."
"I attend both schools (UC and XU) games, when I dont have practice or something to do."
"I want to study accounting in college."
"Coaching style doesnt matter to me as long as we are winning."
"The distance consideration only means that I dont want to be so far away that my parents cant come to see me play frequently."
"I played no point guard last year."
1/3/01: Listed as the 16th best SG in the USA, in the 2002 class. - Ohio Preps
12/31: Q & A's from Robert Hite's mssg board:
Q: Will distance play a part in your college choice?
Robert Hite: - Definitely
Q: You seem like the kind of athlete that Louisvile loves to recruit. We have a nice class coming in next year. Are you considering Louisville.
RH: Louisville is recruiting me, but I have not started to narrow colleges yet.
Q: ...have you visited Michigan State. . . . and what coach has been recruiting you for Michigan State ?
RH: Yes, I have unofficially visited Mighican State when my AAU team played a tournament in Lansing. Coach Heath is presently recruiting me.
RH: Right now I'm averaging 17 pts, 7 rebounds, about 2 steal, and about 3 assists a game.
12/29: Hite scored 22 pts in a romp over Aiken. Winton Woods is 8-0 on the year so far.
12/21:
Ozie Davis (Ohio Preps):: Who is the best player in Cincinnati ?
Robert Hite: Beside, me.
Ozie: No, including you ?
Hite: Me.
Ozie: Who's the most athletic ?
Hite: Me.
Ozie: "What schools would you say are recruiting you the hardest ?
Hite: Xavier, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Purdue, Tennessee, Illinois, Ohio State, Kentucky in no particular order.
Ozie: Oh ! Michigan State is recruiting you ?
Hite: I get mass mail from Michigan State.
Ozie: What do you think about the recruiting process ?
Hite: I try not to get caught up in it. Coach Lamp and my parents handle most of the stuff, and you always tell me to concentrate on Winton Woods, college wil be there. I'll probably concentrate more on it after the season and before my senior year.
Ozie: Lastly, how does it feel to be a superstar ?
Hite: I don't consider myself to be a superstar but a student/athletic.
Ozie: Well you are the number one junior in the state and consensus top 50 in the country ?
Hite: Yeah ! but that just means a lot of people know about me, but I don't get the big head. I work really hard at basketball and I really love it. I love being in the gym working on my game trying to get better daily. All that other stuff, I don't get into.
- Ohio Preps
12/15: I watched Robert Hite and the Winton Woods Warriors play at Mason HS tonight and watched Hite specifically. He was good, but not overally impressive. Firstly, he did not play PG. Matter of fact he only brought the ball upcourt once that I recall and that was on a fastbreak. It looked like he played the SF spot, even tho he is just 6 foot tall. I'm not sure if this was an experiment by the head coach or some other factor. Winton Woods won by 23 points and was leading 28-10 after the first quarter.
Hite had 14 pts, 3-4 reb's, and 3 steals. He was 2-5 from 3-point arc. His defense was fair. He is highly athletic and has Levett-like legs. Has a good spin move low in the blocks on lesser competition. Towards the end of the game, he regularly looked for alley-oop situations from his teammates, but they were unable to deliver.
He has a rainbow, touch-the-clouds trey type of stroke. He kept spotting up for the trey on fastbreaks, instead of going to the hole.
One other interesting thing is that his head coach is a screamer, like Huggins. In the 4th quarter with a big lead, coach called a time out and was really laying into the team. - Mike Ryan
12/14: "I saw a feature on Channel 12 this week about Robert Hite. His coach at Winton Woods mentioned that Xavier was the first to offer him a scholarship last year (sophomore year) followed by OSU. He said Cincinnati had offered this year. Robert was then asked who he liked, and he said that he grew up liking N. Carolina and was going to wait so he could consider all his options." - Tim Adams, Forum contributor
12/2: scored 23 points, including 3 trey's.
11/22: "Rob Hite (Winton Woods) put on a show in front of assistant coaches from Cincinnati, Kentucky, Wright State, and Purdue." - Ohio Preps
10/14: "There were no recruits taking official visits at Midnight Madness, but several high school underclassmen were in attendance at Shoemaker Center. Among them was 6-foot-2 Robert Hite from Winton Woods, rated by Athlon magazine as the No. 29 prep junior in the country. Also at The Shoe: B.J. Walker, a 6-8 junior from Woodward; and 6-8 Ivan Harris from Springfield North, one of Ohio's top sophomores. Winton Woods coach David Lumpkin said Hite ALREADY HAS BEEN OFFERED SCHOLARSHIPS BY UC, Xavier and Ohio State." - Cin Enquirer
9/12/00: Listed as the 45th best player in the class of 2002. - Van Coleman/FutureStars
4/13/00: "UC may pass on next year's class from the (Cincinnati) area as well, but (if he develops) I expect UC to be a major factor for sophomore Robert Hite of Winton Woods." - Randy '78
4/7/00: Named 1st team, All Cincinnati by the Cincinnati Enquirer, alpong with Matt Sylvester, Erik Daniels and Darryl Peterson.
3/23/00: listed as the 14th best player in Ohio. - Midwesthoops
2/21/00: visited Dayton for the Temple/Dayton game. Danny Horace and Brian Swift were also at Dayton for a visit that night.
10/99: attended Xavier's MidMad.
