5/28/02: "South Bend Washington's Derrick Graham made it official with Cincinnati State as he returned his NCAA Letter of Intent last week according to the university's staff. The point guard led his team to the semistate round this past season." - Indiana Hoops
7/31/01: "Considered by many to be primarily a wing guard, Derrick is showing signs that he can be at least a combo, if not a true point guard on the next level. He is an above average athlete with a solid build who can get into the lane and create for himself and others on a regular basis. He will need to become more consistent from outside in order to keep defenses honest, but he looks to have nice form on his stroke. The developing PG skills he has shown playing for Bloomington Red should have suitors lining up by summer's end." - PrepStars
7/13: moved to inactive. No recent news. - Mike Ryan
4/9: "not sure IU will recruit him. He is a good driver and finisher to the basket but his shot his suspect and have not seen the playmaking skills you want in a 6'1 kid. I think there is some B10 interest in him." - Peegs/Insiders
4/3: "Graham had a really big year this year as a junior for South Bend Washington. But in the two workouts here he was a bit disappointing. First he did not look his listed 6'3 and second, his outside shot technique is not a real pretty sight. It is kind of a one hand flick shot. Does serve him well on short jumpers and floaters. He is a strong guard and uses that to drive and finish against taller players. At one time I think IU had interest and heard Ohio State showed some this winter. Not sure on the latest." - Peegs
2/17: "Washington was led by NCAA Hi Major Prospect Jr. Derrick Graham's 37 points and 10 rebounds." - INBNews.com
2/11: "Graham's 26 points / 8 rebounds steam rolled South Bend Washington past anemic South Bend Adams 74-53." - INBNews.com
2/10: Graham is currently 6th in the state with an avg of 25 ppg.
1/01: "Mateen Cleaves like guard who uses his bulk and strength to his advantage at the point. Good at using his nice crossover dribble to get into the lane. Outside shot form is not real pretty but he can get into rhythm and hit it off the dribble. Good at dishing off underneath. Sometimes tries to make the pass that isn't there. Played this past summer on the MBA Select team." - Peegs.com
1/1/01: "Helping Washington take of business against the likes of Indiana recruit Sean Kline of Huntington North and Arlington's huge front line (6-8, 6-8, 6-5) were talented junior Derrick Graham (41 points) and senior standout Micah Williams (24). Playing two games in one day can sometimes take its toll, but the Panthers were up for the challenge. "This setup probably worked to our advantage because since we play an up-tempo style, we are constantly rotating players in and out in an effort to keep them fresh," Cooper said. "Although Derrick and Micah came up big for us, we could have not have gotten the job done without a total team effort, which is one of the main reasons we are enjoying some success right now." - South Bend Tribune
12/30: "Graham recently led his (6-3) Washington team to the Huntington North Holiday Classic Champioship. In the first game vs Huntington North, Graham was on fire scoring 27 vs the hosts enroute to a 71-69 win. In the Championship game vs Indpls Arlington, Graham only scored 14 points but his defense on the much larger Golden Knights was the difference in the SB Washington 75-67 Tourney Championship Win over ( Where Is Antwan Alexander ? ) Arlington. Derrick is a Warrior that some High Major NCAA D-1 Will sign that also will not realize that they have a Mateen Cleaves type leader. Michigan State, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Nebraska, Valparaiso, Western Michigan and Cincinnati all daily mail Graham, since they cannot speak with him until June. Speaking with Graham is easy. The guy is a talker and he only mentions how good his 'mates are when you press him for his highlights. He knows his only area for improvement is in the Outside Shooting Department. Averaging 23 ppg, 8 rpg, 5 apg, and 3 steals pg. Derrick Graham has established himself as a Top Prospect from The Junior Class !!" - INBNews.com
