2/2: "hasn't made a decision, but his high school basketball coach says he could be ready next week. "I have a feeling that he's 99.9% sure and I think he's just making sure he considers all of his options. He felt like he rushed into it last time and this time, he wants to make sure he's making the right decision for Greg. He hasn't made a decision yet and it seems as though it's going to be the early part of next week." In the fall, Tinch committed to Seton Hall and Tommy Amaker. However, he went on to rescind his commitment and open up the process. According to Boston, Louisville, Cincinnati, Seton Hall, Colorado and Miami-FL are in the mix. "I would say that Louisville is leading," Boston said. Taking it a step further, it sounds as if the Cardinals are the lone school to offer Tinch a football scholarship. Seton Hall doesn't even have football. Tinch didn't play football his senior year, but wants to play both sports in college. To make that happen, the NCAA mandates that in order to play both sports upon matriculation he would have to sign a football letter of intent." - Rivals100 Hoops

1/31: "Two-sport standout Greg Tinch of Westover HS in Albany, Ga. confirmed he has given a verbal committment to U of L in a phone interview with WLKY TV in Louisville." - Louisville Sports Report

1/31: "is expected to make a decision tomorrow. It will be Louisville. According to the Louisville Sports Report, Tinch has already given a verbal commitment to Denny Crum's program. Today, his AAU coach Wallace Prather and also according to his high school coach Willie Boston, told us no commitment has been made. But apparently Boston's memory was revitalized when he told Dave Telep of Rivals100hoops that Tinch was going to make an announcement tomorrow." -Insiders and Rivals100 Hoops

1/31: "Tinch committed like the Louisville Sports Report said.
His coaches are trying to backtrack a little so he can have some sort of announcement. His AAU coach didn't know. His high school coach did know but is trying to sugarcoat that he still hasn't made a decision. Great job by the Louisville Sports Report." - Mike Sullivan, Insiders Report

1/30: AllStar Report list Cincinnati and Colorado as the two schools in the strongest hunt for Tinch.

1/23: "I feel Greg Tinch is the consummate team player. He has the heart of a champion and the respect of his teammates and peers. He's a fearless leader and a warrior. Greg Tinch is a winner. There's room for guys like Tinch on every team in America. You can look at him and say he has offensive limitations, but it doesn't matter. He'll rebound, hustle and gets in the face of a guy when he needs to. He'll guard the opponent's best player, regardless of position and he won't ask any questions." - Dave Telep, Rivals100 Hoops

1/17: "Tinch, who likely play both football and basketball in college, made an official visit to Louisville on Saturday. He tells us that his list includes Louisville, Cincinnati, Colorado, Miami-FL, Florida State, and Alabama." - HoopScoop

1/13: Tinch visited the Louisville / Cincinnati and saw Cincinnati win by 20, at Louisville.

1/12: "Tinch is scheduled to visit Louisville this weekend, and has received new interest from Cincinnati, Alabama, Florida State, and others. Colorado and S. Hall are still involved as far as I know." - AllStar Report

1/9: "Tinch has plans to visit Louisville this weekend as the Cardinals play host to Cincinnati. Tinch says that Louisville, Colorado, Seton Hall, Marshall, Mississippi, Florida State, Miami-FL, Alabama and West Virginia have offered grants. One school, which is actively pursuing Tinch, is Cincinnati, the same school he'll get to see on his official visit to Louisville. "I want to go in and be a factor and be tough," Tinch said. "The schools that are recruiting me say I am the toughest guy they've seen. They are saying that if I come in and work hard I can start. Cincinnati likes my leadership." Currently, Tinch is averaging 23.4 points and 13 rebounds for 13-2 Albany (GA) Westover. He'll make more official visits upon completion of his high school season. Greg Tinch and Brandon Bender are friends." - Rivals100Hoops

1/8/01: "we're hearing that Louisville is now the favorite for 6'5 Greg Tinch from Albany (Westover) GA, who is ranked #53 nationally by the HOOP SCOOP. If you will recall, Tinch originally verbally committed to Seton Hall in August, but later he reneged. Then, for a while it looked like Colorado was going to steal Tinch, but now Cardinals appear to be in a position to take advantage of the strong ties Wiley Brown, who is a former Louisville player, as well as the strength coach, has in southern Georgia. The word we get is that Tinch will make an official visit to Louisville on January 12th. . . landing Tinch also could enhance Louisville's chances of getting 6'10 Jr Alexander Johnson from Albany (Dougherty) GA, who ranks #27 nationally in the junior class by the HOOP SCOOP." - HoopScoop

12/6: "Just spoke with powerful wing forward Greg Tinch (Albany, GA) tonight and he said that his recruitment is now wide open again. Tinch said several college coaches have been showing up at his Westover High games. Seton Hall and Colorado are still in the hunt along with Louisville, LSU, Cincinnati, Florida and Florida State. Tinch is averaging 20 points and 9 rebounds so far this season. Westover, one of the top teams in the country, has a 5-1 record right now with their only loss coming at a tournament in Arkansas where they played the game on no sleep after the long trip. Mississippi State center signee Marcus Campbell is averaging 14 points and 9 rebounds while shooting guard Darrell Williams is pouring in 20 points a game mostly from the perimeter." - Border Wars Hoops (and Joe Downs)

11/10: "To the utter dismay of Seton Hall faithful, tenacious 6-4 off guard/ wing forward Greg Tich has decided to extend his recruitment until the spring. Greg is considering a number of options including Maryland, Florida State, Cincinnati, Missouri, Louisville, and UMASS. Seton Hall and Colorado will not be discarded, however, as Greg considers the Pirates and Buffaloes major factors in his decision making process." - Border Wars Hoops

11/9: "Greg Tinch will wait until spring to make a final decision on which school he will attend next year. Greg committed to Seton Hall in early September, but visited Colorado three weeks later." - Border Wars Hoops

11/9: "Tinch actually visited the University of Colorado in September, but it wasn't widely reported. Apparently the visit went pretty well to Colorado, because now it looks like it's currently a two-horse race between Colorado and Seton Hall. But that doesn't mean he's close to making a decision. As a matter of fact this one could drag all the way out to spring." - Hoop Scoop

11/4: "Greg Tinch told us today that he is reconsidering his verbal to Seton Hall. Tinch now says he will choose between Seton Hall and Colorado. "I hope to have a decision by the middle of next week," Tinch said." - Border Wars Hoops

"He is the best rebounding guard/small forward I have seen in some time, similar to Quentin Richardson or Charlie Bell." - High Major Hoops

9/25: "Hyper-aggressive WF is an ultimate competitor on the floor on offense and defense. Very good alley-oop finisher and defender. Strong rebounder in the paint even versus bigger players. Very fast baseline to baseline and has quick hands and reactions. Will excel in college in an up tempo setting. Effective at beating defenders off the dribble. Impressive physique is far superior to the rest of the WF's in this class. Intimidator, trash talker and very intense will get into opponents head. Schools considering: Tennessee, Seton Hall, Louisville, Maryland, Villanova and others." - High Major Hoops

9/5: "Seton Hall head coach Tommy Amaker will be in Tinch's hometown of Albany, GA on Thursday to watch him workout (at Westover High) and then go to his parent's house. Tennessee head man Jerry Green will also try to get there on Friday after visiting Ousmane Cisse that day. Tinch will also visit the "Big 3's" campuses on consecutive weekends in October. He will go to Louisville on the 7th, Seton Hall on the 14th and Tennessee on the 21st. Colorado will get the first visit on September 30th but they still remain on the outside looking in, at least for now." - Border Wars Hoops

8/8/00: "Tinch is a leader, a fighter and a finisher deluxe. Greg plays every minute with 100% effort, and he requires the same from his teammates. Moreover, his hard nosed, no nonsense game and demeanor demand his teammates' respect. Tinch is a fine penetrator. Given the slightest free lane to the hoop in the half court or on the break, Greg is good for two points, the foul or both. Tinch loves to mix it up down low and although he is undersized for post play, he is still very effective against the finest high school competition. Tinch is quick enough to guard smaller players on the perimeter, and his handle isn't bad for a player of his size. However, for him to reach the next level, he needs to add an effective perimeter shot. Unfortunately, Greg didn't have one in his otherwise impressive bag of tricks in Vegas. Tennessee is rumored to be his current leader, with several SEC, Big East and ACC schools in the mix. If Tinch becomes a proficient shooter, he certainly has the athleticism needed to make it to the highest level." - Duke BBall Report

8/00: Wants to play SG in college.
