11/29/03: "Greg Brown of Eastern Oklahoma (OK) CC scored 30 points, but it was not enough as the Mountaineers fell to host SMSU/West Plains in the Ozarks Medical Center Classic 87-78. Brown scored 20 in the second half, making three-three-pointers. He sank all seven free throws. Brown averaged 17.4 points last season for Indian Hills (IA) CC and was going to Los Angeles (CA) CC, but elected to play his sophomore season for Eastern Oklahoma. The former Milwaukee Vincent standout committed to Miami of Florida last season, but has re-opened his recruitment." - InsidersHoops

7/15/02: "Wisconsin Playground guard Greg Brown said Sunday night at the Peach Jam that his top four schools are Kentucky, Miami, Cincinnati and Louisville -- as long as he manages to qualify. "I think they all fit," the Milwaukee Vincent High School graduate said. "They all play my style -- run and gun -- but I'm waiting on my test score. When I get that, I'll be able to make my decision -- probably in August." He took the ACT on June 8. Brown averaged 24 points and six assists a game this past winter as a senior for a 24-1 Vincent team. But his next stop, obviously, is still in question. "I think a great idea for him would be to go to a junior college that'll let him redshirt a year and get his course work in order," Playground coach Tommy Zaffran said. "I think that'd be a great option."
July 2002: Listed as the 18th best SG in his class. - RivalsHoops

7/6/01: "SG Brown says that Iowa and Illinois are his top two choices, but makes no bones about who he likes best. Brown says that Iowa is in great shape. The only problem is we are hearing that he’ll have to get his academics beefed up before the Hawkeyes fully commit to taking him. Brown would like to make a commitment soon. “Not this week, but I am real close," Brown said." - Blue Chip Hoops
7/3: "This quick and aggressive point guard from Wisconsin likes to score. He’s able to hunt his shot off the bounce and isn’t afraid to take it right to the rim when he gets the urge. And he gets lots of urges. He led his team in scoring on more than one occasion and was often too quick for his backcourt counterparts this weekend." - ACC Today
7/2: Greg Brown leaning to Iowa. - Blue Chip Hoops
6/14/01: "we think Greg Brown is a top 30, McDonald's All-American player who has proven it everywhere he has played the past two springs and summers. We think that maybe Brown being a bit (underrated) is a combination of the following: 1) Wisconsin kids still do not get the respect they deserve, although their AAU teams are among the best in the nation; 2) Brown's academics are not the best in the world. Brown is strong in the upper body and (goes) to the hoop. He is every bit as good as a penetrating scorer as Sean Dockery, but Dockery is a better ball-handler and passer. Brown is every bit the shooter that Dee Brown and Anthony Roberson is, but is not the all-round point guard Roberson is and is not the defender Dee Brown is. That is not to say Greg Brown is not a good point guard and defender, because he excels in these areas as well. We are just saying that while we would rank him in the national top 30, he is not as good as the other three guards mentioned in our opinion, but he has proven everyone wrong over the past two years, and we now welcome him to prove us wrong on this." - Bullseye, AllStar Report
6/1: "Brown gets our vote as the MVP of this event because he was the most consistent player from start to finish. In our minds he is one of the most overlooked players on the national circuit because while most experts have him ranked in their top 50, he is probably closer to top 20. Offensively, there is virtually nothing that he can't do. He scores inside and outside, is a great athlete, and consistently plays hard. He also crashes the boards and is a great passer. Still needs to do considerable work in the classroom and this is the only thing hampering him recruiting-wise. Also deserving of serious McDonald's consideration." - AllStar Report
6/1: "Greg is a big time scorer who is strong off the dribble and has deep, deep range. At his size he needs to improve his handle a little, but he can flat out fill it up form anywhere on the court and plays with wicked confidence. He will be a top 50 player in 2002's very guard heavy class." - Phog.net
5/31: "This powerful combo can flat out score with best in class as his 23ppg average showed here. He is a streaky shooter with range to beyond NBA arc, but is at his best using shot to set up penetration. He did nice job passing ball in Bloomington, something we hadn’t seen in other venues. Look for Big Ten and Conference-USA to be all over him if he makes grades, but prep school might be first step after next year!" - Van Coleman
5/30: "We saw plenty of Brown last year and knew that he was a talented scorer, but over the weekend he was terrific. Clearly outshining his teammates, Brown posted a stunning 38 points to lead the Playground Warriors over Baltimore Blue. Short for WG at 6-1, Brown compensates by using an excellent first step and great strength to finish drives to the rim. Once defenders give him a little space, he launches high-arching threes that frequently find the net. But he's at his best going to the basket, finishing cleverly off the glass and drawing a lot of fouls. His quickness and strength also give him the ability to defend many point guards, even if he doesn't have the mentality to play the position offensively." - PrepStars
5/30: "Brown, who was the 6th leading scorer in the tournament with 26.5 ppg, also has come on like gangbuster since we saw him last summer. Sure, there are still questions about Brown's lack of size, but his incredible athleticism, excellent upper body, and ability to hit the trey make him a legitimate top 50 junior nationally. But our guess is that Brown will still get underrecruited (because) his academic situation is a major question mark." - HoopScoop
5/28: "despite his height, 6-1 WG Greg Brown from Milwaukee (WI) Vincent continues to abuse taller guards with his strength, quickness and shooting ability...." - PrepStars
5/23: "a stocky 6-2, 190 pound off guard from Vincent HS in Milwaukee, Wis., is a prolific scorer for Rick Stimac's Playground Warrior program. Brown concluded his performance at the St. Louis Eagles Invitational on Sunday morning with a rousing 29 point effort in a 66-60 semifinal round loss to eventual champ Boo Williams. Although there was some talk that Brown might need to upgrade his academic credentials next year in prep school, he told the Insiders Report that he plans to stay at Vincent. Brown said that Iowa is his current leader, followed by Michigan State and Wisconsin. He is also considering Minnesota, Purdue, Michigan, CINCINNATI and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. "Iowa is at the top right now," Brown said. "I took an unofficial visit down there, and Coach Alford let me know that they were very interested in me." Brown averaged 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals per game this past season at Vincent. An excellent slasher who can score going to the rim, Brown has developed a deadly three point shot, though his form is far from picture perfect. He barely elevates off the ground and kind of pushes the ball off his non-shooting hand, but it's the results that ultimately count. Because of his shot style, his three pointer is more true off the catch and shoot than on the go. Brown said he has a 2.0 GPA, and will take the ACT exam for the first time on June 9. His summer plans include the Nike All-American Camp, as well as stops at the Nike Peach Jam and AAU Supershowcase with the Playground Warriors." - RivalsHoops
5/21/01: "Greg Brown- 6’2 PG/WG; Wisconsin Playground Warriors. Brown has the ability to be a very dangerous shooter when he is left alone, and can be a highlight real on the fast break. A solid defender, he is a bit of a tweener who has PG size and a scorer's mentality and game. He will have his choice of high mid to lower high majors." - Phog.net
5/21: "(Team) Boo Williams reached the finals by surviving an electric shooting performance by Wisconsin Playground Warriors 6'2 junior PG Greg Brown who drained long three after long three on his way to 31 points in a 66-60 defeat." - AllStar Report
5/10: #75 ranking in his Junior class. - Prepstars
4/29/01: Was listed as one of the best Juniors in the MidWest. - Midwest Hoops
17. Alex Carmona 6'4 Troy, OH
22. Robert Hite 6'1 Cincinnati, OH
23. Chris Quinn 6'0 Dublin, OH
24. Greg Brown 6'1 Milwaukee, WI
4/10: "The 6-1 WG/PG from the powerhouse at Milwaukee (WI) Vincent is one of several proficient combo guards on Tom Zaffrann's well-drilled AAU squad. But Brown might be a cut above the rest. Solid with the dribble. Bulls his way to the basket. Uses a hesitation dribble, ball fakes, head fakes, whatever he can come up with to find his way to the rack -- once there, he finishes thanks to above-average strength. Lets fly from three. Accurate from the line." - PrepStars (Boo Williams Tourney notes)
4/9: "This guy has absolutely no regard for the 3-point line. Confidence is a good thing and Brown exudes it. He does need to focus a little more on shot selection. Regardless, he's a strong driver and a very good player. He'll probably be able to play a combo role and brings some scoring punch to a lineup. Potential high-major recruit." - Rivals100Hoops
3/27: Listed as the 25th best SG in the USA. "Attracted national attention last summer for the Playground Warriors and followed that up with a fine 2000-2001 season." - Brick O.

11/28/00: "If you're a fan of Cincinnati, Michigan State, Marquette, Iowa or Purdue -- this is a kid you'll want to fill your head with information on. Because he's going to be recruited by everyone on that list. And he's probably adding more -- as you read this article.
His name is Greg Brown and he's a 6'1 scoring PG from the junior class who suits up for Milwaukee Vincent HS in Wisconsin. He's got a big time reputation as a scorer, he's an amazing ball-handler and has some sick isolation moves on his way to the rim. His AAU coach Tom Zaffrann tells HMH that all of the aforementioned programs are showing "major interest" in Brown. "He's a legit 6'1 and weighs 175 pounds," said Zaffrann of Brown. "He can shoot it from way deep, his three point stroke is a bit of a set shot right now, but he drains them with regularity." "His best stuff is his pull-up jump shot off the bounce and the way he embarrasses defenders-- one on one." He's a good free throw shooter and loves to handle the ball, almost to a fault." Brown, along with Travis and Drake Diener led the powerful Playground Warriors to several championship titles last summer and garnered the attention of many high and mid division one coaches while doing so." - High Major Hoops
7/26/00: "The Wisconsin Playground Warriors beat Illinois last Thursday for the championship in the Nike Peach Jam basketball tournament in Augusta, Ga. Fond du Lac's Travis Diener scored 23 points to help the team finish with an 8-0 record. He was named to the all-tournament team. Fond du Lac's Drake Diener made the second team and Milwaukee Vincent's Greg Brown landed on the fourth team. On Sunday, the Warriors lost in the first round of the Super Showcase Tournament in Orlando, Fla. University of Wisconsin coach Dick Bennett and assistant Shawn Hood were also in attendance." - Milw Journal
3/19/99: "Milwaukee Vincent defeated Milwaukee Washington, 58-44, in the Division 1 championship game at the WIAA state boys basketball tournament. Sophomore forward Greg Brown led Vincent (24-3) with 18 points, while juniors Quemont Greer and Deonte Tatum added 14 apiece." - Milw Journal
