8/1/01: Listed as the 10th best graduating Juco SF in the country. - NBA Draft Report
4/27: "I spoke with Cincy State Asst Coach Joe Fowler last week, and he informed me that many schools are waiting for more concrete word on Konate's graduation status. Coach Fowler said that Colorado and Nevada-Reno have remained heavily in the mix with Konate this spring." - Russ Blake, Juco Junction (3 to 1)
1/27: "was recently offered a scholarship by the University of Colorado. Cincy State Asst. Coach Joe Fowler recently informed JUCO Junction of the Buffalo staff's offer to the Surge's sophomore forward. Fowler said that West Virginia, Tulane, Marquette, Cincinnati, Memphis, Nevada and Eastern Kentucky remain involved with Konate. Right now, Colorado and Eastern Kentucky are the only two programs to offer scholarships, but Nevada really liked Konate when it saw him in late December at the Dixie State College Holiday Tournament. Konate will not take any official visits until the conclusion of the basketball season, Fowler said. Back at the Panhandle Shootout in late November, Konate showed that he is very comfortable facing the basket for a 6-9 player. Though not a great ball handler, he can put it on the floor a bit and is very good in transition." - Juco Junction
1/26: listed as a "Tier Three" juco (the 3rd highest rating) which means he is one of the Top 30 Juco kids in the country. - PrepStars
12/15: Listed as the 41st best Juco player in the country, regardless of position. - NBADraft Report
12/14: "The most well known of Cincy State's sophomores is 6-9, 210 pound combination forward Bakary Konate, who hails from Mali, West Africa. According to Surge Asst. Coach Joe Fowler, Konate is being looked at this fall by Tulane, Louisville, Iowa State, Cincinnati, Marquette and Ole Miss. As a freshman last season, Konate averaged 14 points per contest. Konate is mobile and athletic enough to play at a high level, but he's too much of a tweener to be considered a small forward. Konate has good quick moves to the hoop, and can finish with a finger roll effortlessly or a slam dunk on the break. Although not a great ball handler or partcularly strong, Konate finishes well due to his quickness of leap and in getting to the basket, and showed the ability to step out and knock down the occasional open three pointer." - Juco Junction
10/7: "(Louisville is) battling Cincinnati, Memphis, East Carolina, Iowa State, and Marquette for 6'9 Bakary Konate from Cincinnati State (JC) OH." - HoopScoop
