Quemont Greer

Class of 2001
Position: SF
School: Berkshire Schoo
City: Homestead, Fla., FL
Height: 6-7
Interest: 1

10/24: "committed to DePaul today. He is regarded as one of the top rising seniors in the Midwest. Greer is a solidly built player who has the ability to step out and knock down the three pointer, though he has an awkward release in which he spring backwards after shooting the ball. He is also a very effective player in the low post." - Insiders Report

9/27: "Believe it or not, the (UNCC) 49ers may be the leader for 6'7 Quemont Greer from Milwaukee (Vincent) WI, who ranks #50 nationally by the HOOP SCOOP. Greer is an undersized power forward, but nobody in the nation rebounds better. Greer had a monster summer, as is evident by the fact that he finished ranked #9 at the adidas ABCD Camp by the HOOP SCOOP and was one of the best players at the adidas Big Time Tournament." - PrepStar.com

8/19: "After weeks of rumors, Milwaukee Vincent High star Quemont Greer is transferring to a new school. And the choice is surprising.
Greer, one of the top players from Wisconsin, has decided to transfer to the Berkshire School in Homestead, Fla. "I'm giving him a going-away party, with his friends and teammates," his mother, Carolyn Greer, said. "He's leaving next Saturday." As a junior, Greer led Vincent High to its fourth Wisconsin Division I title in the last five years. Marshall Williams (Vincennes J.C.), Jose Winston (Colorado), Terry Sanders (Marquette) and James Wright (UW-Milwaukee) are recent Vincent graduates. For college, Greer — a 6-foot-7 combo forward — is considering Wisconsin, Marquette, DePaul, Louisville, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Saint Louis, Auburn and Maryland. However, the move to Florida could cause more southern colleges to jump in on his recruitment. At Berkshire, he'll join Duane John (Missouri commitment), Jamal Levy (Wake Forest) and Joshua Chambers (Colorado). However, Berkshire is losing 6-10 center Simplice Njoya. The talented big man hoped to go to high school in Minnesota, but the state federation declared there was "undue influence" with his transfer. Last year, Berkshire was 32-2 and the No. 1-ranked Class 1A team in the state when the team was disqualified from the playoffs for recruiting violations. After an investigation, the school received the harshest penalty the Florida High School Activities Association can administer when the school was suspended by Florida's high school athletics governing body for five years." - FoxSports

7/18: "We agree that right now UNCC and St. Louis are the leaders for Greer. However, a ton of Conference USA schools are after him, including DePaul, Marquette and Louisville and at this point all of them think they have a realistic shot. You can probably throw Iowa State into the mix as well (seems Iowa State, Marquette, St. Louis and DePaul are competing for a lot of the same kids). Greer is a dynamite 3/4 combo who absolutely cleans up inside but is also capable of putting the ball on the floor and going to the basket or stepping out and knocking down the medium range jumper. If he were two inches bigger he would probably rank in most everyone's top 20 nationally. He is no worse than top 50 right now and ranked among our top 6 players at the Adidas/ABCD camp. Unfortunately, Greer's academics are very shaky and he has a ways to go in terms of making his test score." - Bullseye, AllStar Report

7/7: "Marquette, UNC-Charlotte, N.C. State, and St. Louis appear to be the favorites for 6'7 Quemont Greer from Milwaukee (Vincent) WI." - Prepstars

7/6: "Greer is leaving Milwaukee (WI) Vincent in favor of York (PA) Crispus Attucks (same school as Westley). Greer said he is making the switch because he needs to focus in on academics if he is to get himself in a position to qualify. Right now, he says many Conference USA schools like UNC-Charlotte, Marquette and St. Louis are all over him. Wisconsin and Purdue also like him a lot. However, Greer hinted he would like to play in the SEC. - Rivals100Hoops

7/5: "The Michigan Mustangs beat the Illinois Fire, 74-62, in the championship game of the 2000 Bet/Pro-Am D.C. Summer Classic at George Washington University in Washington, DC last night. Taking care of business inside were 6'6 Quemont Greer from Oakdale (St. Thomas More) CT with 11 points and 6'8 Omari Westley from York (Crispus Attucks) PA with 14 points, but Westley also showed he can step out and hit the 18-foot jumper, which makes the value of stock rise a little more." - PrepStars

6/15: "When you talk recruiting and scouting players with college coaches the term "Tweener" comes up often. Well, 6'6 combo Forward Quemont Greer from Milwaukee, WI may be the best Tweener in the Midwest. A Tweener is a player with the size to play one position but the skills to play another. Greer is blessed with a strong physical build and has good rebounding instincts that would lead you to believe he could be a 4 man. But at 6'6 it will be hard for him to do that on the bigtime college level. Plus he feels more comfortable on the wing and likes to shoot his pull up jumpers off the dribble like a three man. Greer scores around the basket well and gets a lot of mid ragne post ups because he is too powerful for most three men to check. His ability to pop out and shoot the jumper is what gives him a chance to excel at the hign major level. Greer is cut from the same mold as former UConn standout Kevin Freeman who really just made himself a position and became a classic "Tweener" who battled his way to being an all Big East player. I expect the same from Greer and so do schools like: Tennessee, Marquette, Cincinnati, Louisville, St. Louis, Auburn, Depaul, Wisconsin, and Maryland who are all showing interest. Greer will be playing at the ABCD camp and will travel the summer AAU circuit with The Friends of Hoops Orange team. - MidWestHoops

6/1: "Quemont Greer, a 6'6 combo forward from Milwaukee Wisconsin, had a very good weekend at Tournament of Champions, as he was able to display his ability to score around the glass, and to step back and hit the open jump shot. Quemont's perimeter game has always been a question mark, but at TOC he displayed great ability shooting the ball around the perimeter, as well as using his strength and quickness in the paint. According to Quemont, Florida, Tennessee, Marquette, Wisconsin, Maryland and North Carolina State are the schools are on top of his list at this time. He will once again attend the ABCD Camp and travel with Friends of Hoop this summer." - AllStar Report

5/8: "Quemont Greer possesses a great build for a basketball player at 6-6 and 215 pounds. He can play either forward position and has done that over the past year at Vincent High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Greer is regarded as one of the top rising seniors in the Midwest. Greer has the ability to knock down the three pointer and he is also a very effective player in the low post. Greer's early list of schools includes Iowa, Purdue, Marquette, Florida and Wisconsin Green Bay. He averaged 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and five blocks peer game this past season. He says he has a 2.5 GPA and will sit for the ACT in June for the first time. Greer was very effective this past weekend at the Spiece Tournament.

11/99: 36th best player in USA/Junior. - Midwesthoops
