Height: 6-6
Interest: 1

4/23: "San Jose State got a major talent when 6-7 wingman Carlton "Odie" Baker (Barton County CC/Great Bend, Kan.) inked his letter of intent with the Spartans. Baker, a well-known prep out of East Chicago, Ind., is a tremendous talent whose recruiting took a serious nosedive after he was accused of hitting an official during a game earlier this season. Though he protested that the contact was incidental, he was suspended for the rest of the season." - ESPN

2/19: "East Chicago native Carlton Baker has a good chance to win his appeal for reinstatement. Baker was suspended for Jayhawk regular season play after his bench clearing brawl vs. Butler Co. Thousands of Barton Co. supporters in and around Great Bend Kansas have signed a petition in hopes Baker will return for The National Tourney." - INBNews.com

2/16: "Here are the facts:
(1) Baker was ejected for the second time this season in a win at Independence C.C. last month.
(2) As per KJCCC rules, he was suspended for the remainder of the regular season.
(3) KJCCC Commissioner Bennie Lee obviously looked at the facts and evidence from the incident and made his ruling." - JucoJunction

1/23: "Barton County's Carlton Baker has been suspended by the Jayhawk Conference commissioner for the remainder of the season. Based upon the events that occurred Saturday night during the Barton County-Butler County men's basket-brawl game, it was absolutely the right call to make. It was Baker's second ejection of the season, having also got tossed during a contest at the conference shootout in December. In Barton County's 19 games this season, it has 18 technical fouls. Baker has nine of the Ts. Last season in a sparkling 32-2 campaign, the Cougars had 30 technical fouls, eight by Baker. This guy is a powder keg waiting for a spark to ignite." - Garden City Telegram

1/21: "Barton beat the Grizzlies 94-87, but the game was marred by the ejection of Cougars star Carlton "Oudi" Baker, who nearly started a full-scale brawl. With 5:59 remaining in the first half, Baker rebounded a missed free throw. Butler forward James Peters slapped up at the ball in Baker's hand, which was called a foul. Baker took exception to Peters' slap, which Wolf would later tell referees was an "uppercut." Baker took one step toward his basket, turned and sprinted the other way, carrying the ball. Near halfcourt, Baker fired the ball at Peters, who was about 12 feet away. The ball missed Peters, but the act set off an altercation at midcourt. Teammates and Wolf tried to restrain Baker, but he threw two punches, at least one of which struck referee Bart McVay in the back of the head. By that time, there were more than 15 players on the court. It took numerous teammates and coaches to get Baker off the floor, and order was finally restored, though Wolf screamed at the referees and angrily ripped off his coat. Baker was given a technical foul for throwing the ball and another for throwing a punch at an official. The ejection is Baker's second this season. Jayhawk Conference rules mandate a suspension for the rest of the season after two ejections. Baker sulked near the bench before heading to the locker room. After ejecting Baker, lead referee John Ronan decided to look at video of the incident to determine if there would be additional penalties. The video shot by Butler's student manager showed Peters' slap was nothing malicious, as he just lifted his hand at the ball. Ronan and McVay looked at the Barton tape to see if players came off the bench -- which, by rule, would be an automatic ejection -- but settled for Baker's two technicals." - Wichita Eagle

1/17: listed as the 47th best SG in the country. List included all Juco's, College players and HS players that play SG. (#1 was Gerald Wallace from Alabama. Kelvin Torbert was 6th)

1/14: "Barton played (and lost) without point guard Eric Bush, a preseason All-American. He was suspended indefinitely by coach Ryan Wolf on Saturday. Bush returned from Christmas break on Thursday after staying in Indiana two extra weeks for personal reasons." The Cougars could have used Bush. It was a tight game for the first 28 minutes. Then Barton seemed to take control behind Carlton Baker. He scored 24 of his 30 points in the second half, helping Barton built a 12-point lead with five minutes to play. - Wichita Eagle

1/13/01: In a loss to Seward Cty JUCO, Baker was 11-21 from the field, 7-7 from the line (30 pts total) and 9 rebounds. - Mike Ryan
