03/27/08: "You may have seen the USA Today story today in which Scotty Hopson listed his five final schools and noticed that UC was not among them. Don't believe it. UC is still very much involved. I'm hearing that three schools remain in the running - Mississippi State (the school he originally committed to before reopening his recruitment), Tennessee and UC." - Koch, Enquirer.com

03/27/08: Hopson scored 10 points for the West team at the McDonalds game.

03/19/08: "The 6-7 Hopson has been the talk of the state this season and not just for his play on the court. He's been the subject of a lot of recruiting talk. After committing to Mississippi State last year, Hopson didn't sign with the Bulldogs in November and decided to reopen his recruitment. But it hasn't affected his play. Hopson -- who was named a McDonald's All American last month -- averages 24.4 points and 11.4 rebounds.

Considered one of the top 20 players nationally by scouting services, Hopson helped the Blazers win the All "A" Classic last month, but this will be his first Sweet 16. "It's a great accomplishment for me and my team, and it's what we have been focused on all season," he said. "This year a lot of things have changed. There have not been a lot of distractions. Coach (Randy McCoy) has kept everything away from us."

University Heights didn't even qualify for the Second Region Tournament last season, and there were whispers around the state that Hopson lacked effort. But McCoy laughs that off. "I challenge anyone to show me a great player anywhere in the country that starts a game and goes 100 percent for 32 minutes," he said. "Everyone wants to say he takes plays off. But he's averaging 24 points and 11 rebounds, and we have 30 wins and four losses this season. He's played enough to help us do that." Win or lose, Hopson's high school career will end this week in Rupp Arena. Will he also end up playing his college ball there?

Hopson has left the recruiting process up to McCoy and his family. He's not expected to decide until mid-April, but expect UK, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Louisville and Georgia to be in the mix. "Scotty doesn't even talk about it," McCoy said. "He's really focused (on the tournament) right now." - Louisville Courier Journal

03/14/08: "As far as the recruiting process, don't believe anything you hear. Nothing - I repeat nothing - has changed in recent weeks with Hopson and the process. He's totally focused on the state tournament and won't even think about a college decision until after the season. So, yes the rumor going around the SEC Tournament about a Hopson commitment to Cincinnati is totally untrue. The Bearcats might be slightly in the mix, but I still think it will come down to Tennessee or Mississippi State with Kentucky and Louisville still both having a shot with Hopson." - Louisville CJ

03/13/08: "UC is believed to be one of three schools being considered by highly rated guard Scotty Hopson." - Enquirer.com

03/12/08: "The No. 20 Blazers (29-4) got 31 points from Scotty Hopson and 13 fourth-quarter points from Taquan Brown in overtaking the Colonels (18-8) in a Second Region semifinal at Madisonville." - Louisville CJ
