6/6/01: "the University of Pittsburgh has gotten an early commitment from 6'11 Jr Darryl Jacobs from Buffalo (Traditional) NY. We say early commitment, because Jacobs has been reclassified as a junior and, as a result, will move onto our 5th year list next year." - HoopScoop

4/10: "Traditional senior center Daryl Jacobs has verbally committed to the Panthers. Jacobs, who will attend prep school at Maine Central Institute next year, said he is choosing Pittsburgh due to his familiarity with some of the players and because of the loyalty coach Ben Howland has shown during the recruiting process. "The coaching staff knows me real well, and I played AAU ball with (sophomore) Brandin Knight and Julius and I are close, too," said Jacobs. "Coach Howland is so down to earth. He knows about my problems academic-wise and he was the only one that stuck by me." - Buffalo News

4/9: "Haven't heard if he's prep or juco but traditionally when there has been no buzz at all about a player as in the case of Jacobs, it's a juco situation." - Rivals100Hoops

2/20: "It is my understanding that Jacobs is a serious candidate for prep school next season." - Rivals100Hoops

2/19: "If 6'10 Daryl Jacobs from Buffalo, NY can somehow qualify, Cincy would take him. He's very good." - Bullseye, AllStar Report

2/18: AllStar Report describes Jacobs as a "long shot academically".

2/15/01: "Traditional's boys got another super all-around effort from 6-foot-10 senior center Daryl Jacobs in an 88-49 victory over Lafayette. Jacobs had 25 points, 16 rebounds and 13 blocked shots for the Bulls (18-2 overall, 13-0 league), who clinched their second straight title. Look no further than Jacobs to prove that point. He's averaging 18 points, 15 rebounds and nine blocks and Bryant says colleges such as Tennessee, Syracuse, Massachusetts, Cincinnati, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Southern California and New Mexico are showing interest. "Tennessee, Pitt and UMass are probably the top three right now," Bryant said. - Buffalo News

3/00: "Darryl may be one of the sleepers in the class of 2001. Darryl is averaging a triple double during his high school junior season. He is averaging 18 points, 19 rebounds and 10 blocks per game. Darryl's early school list includes Pittsburg, Tennessee, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Ohio State, and Northwestern. Darryl will be playing AAU ball this summer with the Alley Dogs of Buffalo." - ACC Recruiting Update
