12/08/07 - Juwan Staten may have been the best player on the court, but Meadowdale High School wanted to show it was the best basketball team. Staten, Thurgood Marshall's sophomore point guard playing in front of Xavier University coach Sean Miller, had his team in control for most of Friday's home City League game. "Staten demands a lot of attention. He's a great ballplayer," (Meadowdale coach Felix Turner said.) Working against a box-and-1 and double-teams, Juwan Staten, the coach's son, had 20 points. Brandon Hall had 15 and Robinson 12. Staten hit a leaner and a 3 in the final 1:41. But after two late time-outs, he missed a 3 he took over Drakes. "I just hit that shot the play before," Juwan Staten said. "It felt good. He gave me room. I just didn't make it." - Dayton Daily News
