12/21/07: "William Penn High junior Brian Oliver, a standout on the boys basketball team who is being recruited by several Division I programs, withdrew from the school today. Oliver has accepted a scholarship from Oak Hill Academy, a boarding school in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. The school has one of the nation's most-well known boys basketball programs. Among its products are current NBA standouts Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant. Oliver, who will be eligible to play for Oak Hill this season upon the completion of his transfer, said "it's the opportunity of a lifetime." Last year, Oak Hill finished No. 1 in the nation among boys basketball teams and is currently No. 17 in the USA Today national rankings." - Wilmington News Journal

03/24/07: "Oliver is coming off a very successful season. He has worked hard and improved his handle quite a bit. He can shoot beyond the arc, has a strong mid-range game, and can finish strong around and above the rim. He plays an intense defensive game by rebounding well and blocking shots. His team finished the regular season as Conference co-Champions, and then continued to the semi-final round of the State Championship tournament where they finished the year with a 19-6 record. Oliver averaged 16.5 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists and 2.5 steals per game. End of season awards include First Team All-Conference, northern Delaware “Top 10” player, Delaware Gatorade Player of the Year nominee, and Third Team All-State. Schools that made the trip to see the rising talent include Maryland, Rutgers, Penn State, and Temple. The list of major D1 schools expressing interest in Oliver exceeds 30 so far. Of those schools Connecticut, Rutgers, Iowa, Wisconsin, Virginia, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Baylor, Arizona, Penn State, Tennessee, Xavier, and Temple have made it clear that Oliver is a priority for them. On his recruitment Oliver states, "It's all pretty overwhelming right now, I just need to keep focused. Knowing I have that many people watching me makes me work harder in the gym and in the classroom." - PrepHoopsOnline.com
