05/08/07: "When it comes to the recruiting process, having a number of options is always a plus. That's certainly the case for four-star prospect Phillip McDonald.

The 6-foot-5, 191-pound shooting guard from Cypress (TX) Springs High School currently has five scholarship offers on the table, but a host of other high-major programs are showing a high amount of interest. According to McDonald, three new schools are showing a great deal of interest. "The spring is going good for me," said McDonald. "I like my teammates because they share the basketball and they are making me a better player. Playing with the TMAC All-Stars has been very good for me. I feel that I played pretty good in Dallas last weekend. I knocked down some threes and dunked on some people. "I've seen a lot of coaches watching me this spring," he added. "Kansas, Oklahoma State, Florida, UCLA, Oklahoma and Texas are just some of the schools I've noticed watching me. I didn't name all of the schools because I don't remember all of them."

McDonald, the No. 59 ranked player in the 2008 class, will spend the next couple of weeks relaxing and working out. The TMAC All-Stars don't play in another tournament until they travel to Atlanta in two weeks.

That will give McDonald, the No. 10 ranked shooting guard, some quality time to think about his recruitment. With five scholarship offers on the table, it's only a matter of time before more schools extend offers to the talented shooting guard.

In all, McDonald is receiving interest from Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M (offer), Kansas, Miami-FL (offer), Oklahoma (offer), Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, UNLV, Texas-El Paso, Arizona, Florida State and Iowa State. "Florida State, Iowa State and Oregon are the newest schools recruiting me," he said. "I am still interested in Kansas and I am still looking at all of my options. Right now, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have been by the school. I am really interested in Kansas because it's a big-time program and it has a big-time atmosphere," he added. "The Big 12 is a great conference and playing at Kansas means I wouldn't be too far from home. I know that being able to play early in my career will be a factor in my decision." - Houston Community Newspapers - HCOnline.com

11/18/06: "Cy Springs HS trailed #9 Nimitz HS by three points with the clock expiring (three, two, one...), then Phillip McDonald 6'5 WG 2008 launched (no I take that back, he didn't launch it, he shot it) a 30ft money ball and fell out of bounds as the ball went right through the rim. I don't know if you guys are noticing, but this McDonald kid is does not shy away from making big time shots. Cy Springs held off Nimitz (81-76) in overtime in a huge showdown on Friday night. McDonald (who hit the game winning shot vs Hastings earlier this week) led all scorers with 23pts" - RCS Sports.com
