07/15/07: "He has the likes of Florida State, Cincinnati, USC, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma on his current list of suitors. "I know that I have a lot of great schools on my list and it will be hard to make a final decision when the time comes," he said. "Being away from home for two years will prepare me better for college, I think." - HoopMasters.com

06/26/07: "Dashan Harris, 6-1 senior point guard, Monteverde (FL): I still don’t know if the Cali transplant can make an outside J, as no one could stay in front of him well enough for me to find out. Quick as hell with the hops to rise over the trees and convert on the inside, the aptly-nicknamed 'Dash' looked to drop dimes before getting his own offense going." - www.SlamOnline.com

Need an example of an unselfish player? How about Dashan Harris, the junior point guard for Montverde Academy? Harris is averaging 10.1 assists a game for a team that is 23-0 and ranked No. 10 in the nation by USA Today. Averaging double figures in assists is a rarity. In fact, only one player in the NBA currently is doing it. The Phoenix Suns' Steve Nash is averaging in double figures for assists (11.5 apg) this season. "That's always been a goal of mine," Harris said about averaging in double figures for assists.

Harris, born in New Orleans but lives in Los Angeles, is truely a unique player -- someone who would rather pass first, shoot second. Scoring doesn't mean as much to him as getting everyone involved in the game. "My first prioirty is to get everyone going," he said.

Of course, there are a lot of point guards who can make sensational passes to open players, only to have them miss their shots, When that happens, the great pass goes for naught. There is no assist given. Harris is fortunate that he is playing on a Montverde team filled with talented scorers.

You have to figure that each assist Harris has is equal to at least two points, because it isn't an assist unless Montverde scores. So averaging 10.1 assists a game, that means Harris has a hand in at least 20 points a game right there. He also is scoring an average of 10.3 points a game. That means Harris is directly responsible for more than 30 points in every game he plays." - Orlando Sentinel
