02/08/07: committed to Providence.
02/06/07: One of Providence College's top recruiting targets, forward Jamine Peterson of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass., is on an official visit to Providence. Peterson, who goes by the nickname 'Greedy,' has the Friars and Cincinnati at the top of his list of schools.
Peterson is an athletic wing forward who likes to drive to the basket. He is not much of an outside shooter but will thrive in an uptempo offense. Peterson was scheduled to visit Cincinnati last week but cancelled the trip. The Friars have two open scholarships for next year and are looking at wing athletes, big men and perhaps another wing guard. Among the other forwards PC is tracking are Javarris Barnett of Charlotte (N.C.) Victory Christian, and Justin Safford, of Charis (N.C.) Prep." - The Providence Journal
01/21/07: "Jamine Peterson, one of the Friars' top spring recruits, sat behind the PC bench last night. Peterson is in town this weekend with his prep school team, Notre Dame Prep of Fitchburg, Mass., playing in the Thurgood Marshall Tournament at La Salle Academy." - Providence (RI) Journal
1/20/07: "Jamine Peterson is averaging 14.5 points and 10 boards an outing in about 25 minutes an outing for Notre Dame Prep. He had a game 19 points and 11 boards in game versus Patterson in Springfield. He just seems to have a nose for ball and finished in traffic against Patterson School's athletes." - www.HoopMasters.com

01/12/07: "Included in this mix is 6-foot-5 forward Jamine Peterson, who has interest from Cincinnati, Providence, and St. John's. Peterson is learning how to compete consistently within a structure offense. "He's getting better," said (Notre Dame Prep head coach Bill) Barton. "Once he does that, this will make him a better player." - FoxSports.com

12/19/06: "The 2007 recruit has told scout.com that he's favoring Kansas and UC at the moment. But I have a feeling we're a ways from the Brooklyn native committing anywhere. Right now, the 6-foot-5 small forward is playing at Notre Dame Prep in Massachusetts, and he said he's going to take a visit to UC after his winter break. But he also said Miami, Rutgers, Maryland, Memphis, Illinois, St. John's, and Providence are looking at him as well. In rivals.com's Rivals150, Peterson is listed at No. 115 and is the 31st-ranked small forward. Apparently, there's some issues with academics, so it's unknown if he'll be eligible next season." - Josh at CincyPost.com

11/18/06: "Jamine Peterson quickly reminded everyone who he is. Playing the role of out of sight, out of mind, the New York native stepped up in a big way for Notre Dame Prep in a big and exciting win against Stoneridge Prep. The 6-foot-5 forward scored 33 points and pulled nine rebounds in the 98-95 victory.
Peterson, who goes by 'Greedy', was efficient with both hands and the natural right hander looked like a natural lefty down low. His athleticism has never been a secret and he showed the springs that he's known for with some dynamic dunks in traffic. Peterson was outstanding on the boards, more so on the offensive boards, and was the best power forward on his team.
On the recruiting front, Peterson said he is straightening his academics up and righting the ship in order to play next year at the next level. Kansas came in to see him in action. Memphis, Providence, Rutgers, St. John's, Clemson, Iowa State and "pretty much the ACC and the Big East" are recruiting him, Peterson says." - Yahoo Sports
04/23/06: Jamine Peterson can use all the recognition he can get. Though he had an outstanding senior year at Boys & Girls, the talented 6-6 guard/forward was playing just his first full season of high school basketball, so college coaches and scouts have had very few chances to see what he can do.
Peterson found a good way to make his talents known last night. Though his City Team lost to the Suburban Team, 142-131, he scored a game-high 24 points in the regional game of the Jordan Classic at Madison Square Garden. Peterson hit 11 of his 16 shots - including six dunks - and also grabbed five rebounds.
Though Peterson played at the Garden during the season, he said last night's game had special meaning, since it was his last chance to impress in the city. He's scheduled to start taking classes at Notre Dame Prep in Massachusetts tomorrow. "It means a lot to me," he said afterward. "It was my second time at the Garden and I tried to put on a great show."
Peterson put on a great show all season in the PSAL. He was regarded as the league's best dunker and led the Kangaroos to the quarterfinals, averaging 25 points and 16 rebounds along the way.
His outstanding play was bittersweet because it showed what could have been if he hadn't been academically ineligible for most of his first three years. He played in the final few games of his junior season before exploding onto the scene this season. "If he could have played four years, the sky would have been the limit," said Boys & Girls coach Ruth Lovelace, who watched from a courtside seat last night. "I really believe he's the best player in the city. He can do it all."
Local talent evaluator Tom Konchalski said Peterson likely will end up at a Big East or ACC school after he is done with prep school. So far, St. John's, Memphis, Rutgers, Providence, UMass and Iowa State have shown the most interest. The list is expected to grow. "He plays like he's shot out of a cannon," Konchalski said.
Peterson, who was well-known on the AAU circuit prior to this season, is nicknamed "Greedy" because of his ability - and desire - to rebound. He said he was trying to focus on other aspects of his game last night, though, which is why he tried doing a bit more away from the basket. "I had to show a little more versatility," he said. "I had to show my perimeter shot, show my improvements to the scouts." - NY Daily News
