2/4/02: "The Louisville Cardinals and Missouri Tigers, thanks in no small part to the charm and persistency of each respective coaching staff, have emerged as the prohibitive favorites to land high scoring 5'11 junior college point guard Ricky Clemons. According to Clemons, with whom we spoke earlier today, Coach Quin Snyder of Mizzou and Cardinals skipper Rick Pitino contact him on a regular basis. Incidentally, Ricky told Elite Hoop Recruits that he has not spoken to representatives from the NC State coaching staff in over a month. Clemons scored 39 points on a school record ten three pointers and dished out 13 assists in a recent College of Southern Idaho victory." - Elite Hoop Recruits

2/2: "Ricky Clemons must like playing Utah Valley State College. Having already set a College of Southern Idaho single-game scoring record with 51 points against the Wolverines Jan. 5, Clemons came back with a game-high 39 points including a record 10 3-pointers as CSI swept the season series 118-91 in a physical battle Friday night in the Southern Idaho gymnasium. Clemons, who took extra shooting practice in the team's shootaround Friday afternoon, toyed with the Wolverines' defense most of the night. When guards John Hille or Pierre Monagan would come out on him, the speedy guard would dribble drive right by. When the defense sagged, Clemons burned it with his long range theatrics. After setting the new mark with his ninth 3-pointer with 6:05 left, Clemons dialed in No. 10 with a dribble to the right, two steps to the arc and launched it with 5:07 still to go. Clemons, who also had a game-high 13 assists, said he just took what the Wolverines gave him. "I knew they was going to come out and be focused for us. I just wanted to give my team a chance," he said. "I just play, man. I take what they give me and I just play." - Twin Falls Times

2/1: "CSI Asst Coach Jay Cyriac told JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com that Louisville, Minnesota, San Diego State, Missouri, South Carolina and N.C. State have shown quite a bit of interest in Clemons this winter." - Rivals Hoops

1/27/02: Tony Bobbitt and Ricky Clemons chipped in 12 points each in a win for CSI over Northwestern Comm Coll. The CSI Golden Eagles are now 18-3 on the year.

1/13/02: "The 13th-ranked College of Southern Idaho men's basketball team ran its winning streak to 10 games, beating No. 2 Dixie 100-91 in another classic Saturday in front of a packed-to-the-rafters CSI gymnasium. Ricky Clemons scored a game-high 30 points to lead five Golden Eagles in double figures as CSI remained undefeated in the Scenic West Athletic Conference at 6-0 and improved to 16-2 overall. Tony Bobbitt chipped in 18. Clemons added insult to injury in the waning seconds, stealing the inbounds pass and sinking an NBA-length 3-pointer at the buzzer. Clemons sat for most of the second half after picking up his fourth foul with 15:51 to go." - Twin Falls Times

1/12/02: "The College of Southern Idaho men's basketball team rolled to its ninth straight victory Friday, mauling Snow College 112-75 in the CSI gymnasium. Tony Bobbitt led all scorers with 24 points, including seven 3-pointers, as the Golden Eagles blew out to a 10-0 lead to open the game and never looked back. Ricky Clemons followed up his school-record 51 points last Saturday with a double-double of 21 points and 12 assists. CSI is 5-0 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, 15-2 overall." - Twin Falls Times

1/9: "Currently, he's still hearing from NC State and Wisconsin and possibly Memphis have jumped in. The Tigers don't have a scholarship that is unless star guard Dajuan Wagner bolts for the NBA, which is a possibility." - The Insiders Hoops

1/6/02: Ricky Clemons scored a single-game, school-record 51 points and Tony Bobbitt added 18 points - including three critical free throws to tie the game with 3.5 seconds left in regulation - to lead the No. 17 College of Southern Idaho men's basketball team to a thrilling 116-105 overtime victory over Utah Valley State College Saturday night at the David O. McKay Events Center. It was CSI's eighth consecutive victory to remain perfect in the Scenic West Athletic Conference at 4-0 and 14-2 overall. the night belonged to Clemons, who single-handedly kept the Eagles in the game with his lightning-quick drives through the lane and seven 3-point goals. "I just wanted to come out and play hard," Clemons said. "Last night (an 84-81 win at Salt Lake Community College), we had a bad game and I didn't step up and play like I was supposed to play. I just did what I had to do to win the game." - Twin Falls Times

12/7: "Twin Falls is where Southern Idaho Junior College is located. It’s the home of the Golden Eagles, which is one of the better junior college hoops programs. And the Eagles’ backcourt could be playing in the ACC next season. Not on the same team as point guard Ricky Clemons is a prime target of NC State, while 6-4 shooting guard Tony Bobbitt is one of the names at the top of the Florida State recruiting list. Clemons is the Golden Eagles’ second-leading scorer with an average of 17.7 points per game. He averages a team-leading 8.1 assists and gets 3.6 steals an outing. He is hitting 44.1 percent of his field goal tries, including 31.1 percent of his shots behind the arc. He’s sinking an impressive 89.3 percent of his free throws. Last year, he averaged 7.5 points and 3.8 assists as a backup to Bradley Jackson, who is now at Texas A&M. "Ricky has matured a ton," Ciriac said. "He plays hard all the time, but the big thing is that he is playing like a good basketball player. Before, he was playing like a good street player. "He can shoot and play defense. He’s one of the best on-ball defenders in the country. I coached Shaheen Holloway, and I think Ricky is better because of the way he shoots the ball and because he is quicker. "Some people have had their doubts about Ricky, but they were going on his wild play in high school. But he didn’t have any stability then. He does now." Clemons drifted around quite a bit, attending Charlotte Christian Academy, Oak Hill Academy and Bonner Academy in Raleigh, N.C. He lists Raleigh as his home city. "Ricky could always get you 30 points," Ciriac said, "but he didn’t know how to run a team. Now, he does that very well and is a real point guard. He’s a real basketball player. He’s close to being a finished product. He had to learn to be a team player, and to his credit, he did it." Clemons favors NC State and South Carolina, according to Ciriac. He has taken an unofficial trip to South Carolina and has been on the NC State campus numerous times. East Carolina is also making a push." - ACC Today

12/6: Listed as the 7th best PG in Juco. - Van Coleman, Future Stars

12/3: "Rick Clemons, the 5'11", 175lb Junior College point guard for College of Southern Idaho, told EliteHoopRecruits.com that Michigan State is currently at the top of his recruiting list. Clemons, who is averaging 18.8 points and 10 assists per game, told Warren Wilkins of EliteHoopRecruits that the Spartans have impressed him the most, although he likes N.C. State, as well. Clemons said that he is also considering Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Cincinnati and South Carolina." - Elite Hoops

11/9/01: returned to 'active'

11/4/01: "College of Southern Idaho guards Ricky Clemons and Tony Bobbitt are as good as advertised. The Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons saw that for themselves Saturday night in the championship game of the 28th annual Quarterback Classic at the Sports Arena. Bobbitt and Clemons scored 28 points each as the Eagles from Twin Falls, Idaho, defeated the Dragons 90-84. Southern Idaho's guard tandem of Clemons and Bobbitt - ranked as the top backcourt duo in junior college basketball by Street & Smith - took over at key points throughout. Bobbitt was named the tournament's MVP and Clemons was named to the all-tournament team. Bobbitt, who was 7 of 9 from long range, hit three treys during Southern Idaho's initial run. Clemons made some key defensive plays with three steals and then shot 11 of 12 from the free-throw line." - Hutchinson News

9/27/01: "Ricky Clemons, a point guard at the College of Southern Idaho, will visit Iowa State the weekend of Sept. 29. Clemons was second at CSI last year in assists with 127." - Blue Chip Hoops

8/31/01: Listed as the 7th best JUCO PG in the USA. - Future Stars

2/8/01: "Academic difficulties, disciplinary problems, or simply family instability are a but a few of the problems which frequently derail "blue chip" talent on the road to basketball glory. However, for explosive 5-11 point guard Ricky Clemons, his time in the JUCO ranks at the College of Southern Idaho appears to be little more than a detour on the path to the bright lights of big time college basketball. Clemons, a North Carolina summer league legend and former recruiting target of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, blends lethal athletic ability and a scorer's touch. Blessed with superb quickness and leaping ability, Clemons once scored 30 points in a competitive North Carolina summer league game that included the likes of former Tar Heel Derek Phelps (Jerry Stackhouse never showed up that day). Big deal, summer league games are notorious for the lack of defense, right? Yes, but consider this- Ricky hit the 30 point plateau before the half-time intermission en route to a 48 point performance! While enrolled at CSI, Ricky must await the arrival of additional playing time in order to demonstrate the ability to lead a club and contribute substantial point totals. Presently speaking, the University of Missouri and UNC-Charlotte have expressed the most interest in the slender lead guard." - ACC Recruiting

7/21: "a talented PG from North Carolina, is looking for a junior college. Clemmons will make a visit to Southern Idaho in Twin Falls sometime next week. Academics have slowed Clemmons’ progress as a recruit, but this young man can play." - Rivals100Hoops

6/28: "Class of 2001 prospect Ricky Clemmons, a 6-0, 165-pound PG who last year attended Raleigh (NC) Bonner Academy, fell short academically and now plans to attend Baltimore (MD) Glen Lake next season. At Glen Lake, he plans to re-take four core courses and continue to improve his SAT score. He informed prepstars.com that he averaged approximately 39.0 points and 9.8 assists a game as a junior, leading his team to a 22-10 record. He scored a career-high 52 points in a game versus Durham (NC) Mt. Zion Christian and touted rising senior Jonathan Hargett. Clemmons plans to demonstrate his skills to coaches and scouts alike at the Nike Camp next month. He currently lists Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Oklahoma State, Missouri and Maryland. According to Ricky, the BEARCATS HAVE OFFERED HIM A SCHOALRSHIP and lead for his services. "I want to play up-tempo and go to a school with a good coach," Clemmons said. "I know basketball will take care of itself, so it is important that I go to the right setting -- a place where I can have a good time." - PrepStars & Cliff from CatsReport

6/21/00: "One player not on the list - Ricky Clemmons. He’s expected to attend junior college next season." - unknown source (I forgot to write it down ! - Mike)

2/14/2000: "Five foot eleven, unsigned point guard, Ricky Clemmons (unranked) of Raleigh (N.C.) Bonner Academy has splashed onto the big-time scene by tallying 35 points per game and stroking jump shots from all over the court." - Brick O.

1/21/00: "Ricky Clemmons is still unknown by many, but is already getting attention from at least one NBA team! Academics are still a question, but there is still hope that he could qualify to play next year. Ricky scored 34 against Oak Hill last week, after scoring 53 in a game a few days earlier." - another forgotten source

12/19/00: "Many of you probably saw some info on Ricky Clemmons on the Wake message board. Ricky attends Bonner Academy in Raleigh, and is one of the previously unnamed players that Wake is considering. I've been told he is a fantastic prospect. It looks like Ricky is getting attention from some other big time programs, including "Ohio State, CINCY and Nebraska," as reported on the message board. A lot of things will have to fall into place for Ricky to end up at Wake, but he sounds like he'd be worth the effort." - Wake Forest board
