12/31/06: "LaSalle won its second Kingdom of the Sun championship Saturday night at Vanguard High School, shocking nationally-ranked Kingdom defending champion Eagles 63-57 in a hard-fought and testy game.

Just as they did in 2002, the Lancers (8-3) stared down a giant on the way to the Kingdom crown. First it was Dwight Howard, then a phenom at Southwest Atlanta Christian and now a star for the NBA's Orlando Magic. Saturday it was Jeremy Price, the 6-9 future Georgia Bulldog and current centerpiece of USA Today's No. 10-ranked high school team, undefeated coming in and now 12-1 overall.

(Bobby) Austin headlined the all-tournament team after scoring 14 in the finale. He was joined by teammates (Tony) Schmidt and Danny McElroy, a 6-7 forward who scored 11 while being saddled with primary defensive duties on Price." - Ocala Star Banner

10/10/06: "It's definitely a very, very early commitment. To the average person that's outlandish," Telep said. "But they tend to be special circumstances. This is a very unique situation. It's someone everyone is convinced will be a high-major player. Every one (of the seven) has a unique tie to the program. When you get one this early, it's a regional recruit that has some ties to the school. He's regarded as one of the elite prospects in the state in 2009; I can see why Cincinnati wants to tie him up." - Trent, www.CincyPost.com

10/10/06: "At La Salle, McElroy's role is to score inside, demand the ball and pass out of double teams. . .He really rebounds the ball," Fleming said. "He has terrific hands. His best attribute is that he has no fear. He competes against anybody. He started every game as a freshman. He needs to work on his shooting from the perimeter, his passing and his ball handling. He can block shots and play inside defense but he doesn't move his feet very well (defensively). "He's a very good player." - www.Enquirer.com

He's ranked No. 46 nationally [in his class] by recruiting analyst Clark Francis of Hoop Scoop. La Salle head coach Dan Fleming said McElroy also considered Xavier and Dayton."

They finished 8-0 at this major event. Danny McElroy was the MVP at this tournament by averaging 17.4 pts a game." - www.PrepHoopsOnline.com

05/06/06: "McElroy, who is (our) #1-ranked freshman in the state, more than lived up to his press clippings, as he impressed us with his athleticism; ability to score, rebound, and blocks shots; and ability to put the ball on the floor out on the perimeter." - www.HoopScoopOnline.com

02/26/06: "Probably the top freshman in Ohio. Has very good hands and footwork and at 6'6, has the size to work the paint. In this game he was impressive, going 6 of 10 from the field, scoring 14 points and grabbing nine rebounds in just 18 minutes of action. Can also hit the 10 foot jumper. Added an assist, a block and two steals. Will likely work on his jumper over time and may emulate former LaSalle player Justin Orr." - www.PrepHoopsOnline.com
