08/05/06: "Thomas Manzano never put the effort into his academics as he should have at Canarsie, and he knows it. For the 6-4 guard, prep school was the second chance he needed. "I would be trying to find a job to help take care of my 11-year-old sister if I didn't get a second chance," Manzano said yesterday at the ABCD Camp at FDU in Teaneck. "For me, I know I may not get a chance at the NBA. I need to get a college degree. This is my only shot."

The NCAA's recent crackdown on prep schools has Manzano worried. He spent two years at Genesis One in Mississippi and is unsure where he will be in the fall. The NCAA this week released a second list of schools it considers "diploma mills," schools from which it will not accept transcripts.

Genesis One was on the list of schools whose transcripts will be accepted for students entering college this fall only - and is subject to further review. "I am listed as an undecided, because I need to figure out if my school is going to be OK," Manzano said. "I don't know if I have wasted my time. It's hard, because you talk to the schools and they don't know. I have never seen the list. I just would like to know."

Manzano is getting looks from colleges in the Big East, ACC and Atlantic 10. He'd like to start thinking about which college he'll attend, but he first has to figure out where he's going to finish high school." - NY Daily News

08/03/06: "Manzano had some dominant games in the IS8 Spring League. His ability to damage the interior of a defense is valuable to any college team. Manzano will draw fouls and cause chaos among the bigger players trying to defend against him." - www.ScoutHoops.com

07/07/06: "He is averaging eight points and six rebounds a game playing for the Suns team. "It's great to be here," he said. "It's a chance to play against some of the best players." - www.ScoutHoops.com

06/20/06: Listed as the 73rd best player in 2007 in the nation. - www.HoopScoopOnline.com

06/14/06: "...6-foot-3 and 185-pounds, knows one direction when playing the game of basketball -- straight to the basket. It's been his strength over the past few years and he has. . . " - ScoutHoops.com

11/18/05: "Manzano is more of a swingman than a true off guard at this stage. The release on his jumper is slow and he does his best work attacking the bucket in transition and hitting the offensive glass. . . .Virginia Tech, Clemson, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and LSU are all interested in him. . ." - ScoutHoops.com
