Williams is expected to be in Cincinnati by Thursday, Mark Komara, his former AAU coach confirmed Tuesday night. Williams (6-7, 230) played in 32 games this season, making three starts, and averaged 2.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per contest. An Academic All-Big 12 Second Team selection, he had two double-figure scoring games and one double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds vs. Texas-Pan American on Nov. 29). 05/14/06: Texas sophomore forward Mike Williams is transferring, according to sources close to the situation, despite the fact that the Longhorns could lose their entire frontline.
Williams, a former McDonald's All-American, averaged 2.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in 13.6 minutes as a sophomore. The undersized 6-foot-6 Alabama native scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 20 minutes against West Virginia in the Sweet 16.
Forward Brad Buckman graduated, LaMarcus Aldridge has signed with an agent and P.J. Tucker has decided to test the NBA waters and, according to sources close to the situation, is leaning toward keeping his name in for the NBA draft. It's a puzzling move for Williams, who would have almost certainly started next season and received extensive playing time. According to sources, Williams will look for a place close to his home in Alabama." - FoxSports
