4/21: "...Cummings picked Florida State over Georgia and Louisville" - Hoop Scoop

4/7: "On another front Blake also reports that Monte Cummings, a name I believe recently came up on the Forum, has told him he wants to play in the south - he has visited Louisville and Georgia, his next stop is Florida St. He has turned down an inquiry from Oklahoma as he doesn't want to play in the Big 12 - not in the south. I have no idea whether UC was really serious anyhow." - Richard K.

4/6: "..an athletic 6-4, 183 pound swingman from Southeastern C.C. in West Burlington, Ia., told JUCO Junction that he plans to officially visit Florida State. Cummings, who has taken official visits to both Louisville (Feb.) and Georgia (March), said he will visit Tallahassee from Apr. 14-16. The only other program that Cummings is looking to possibly visit is Cincinnati. He has ruled out East Carolina as a future destination, and said that Georgia is the clear leader for his services. - Juco Junction

3/29: "Hedging against the possibility of Johnson turning pro, UC is continuing to recruit potential replacements and has targeted two junior-college guards: Monte Cummings of NJCAA champion Southeastern Iowa and Immanuel McElroy of Tyler (Texas). Cummings made the all-tournament team at the JC national tournament after scoring 12 points in the title game and 17 points in the semifinal. He also is considering Georgia. McElroy, who is 6-4, 190 pounds, averaged 20 points and eight rebounds for Tyler this season. He's expected to decide between UC and UNLV." -DeCourcy 3/29

3/29: Cummings went from HS in Florida to the military for a few years. - Randy Shinkle

3/28: "Sources in Kansas tell us that Roy Williams and his Jayhawk staff continue to show major interest in 6-4 Southeastern JC (Iowa) sophomore guard Monte Cummings. Monte was a key ingredient in Southeastern's run to a National JuCo Championship earlier this month. A native of Quincy, Florida, he is also considering Cincinnati, Louisville, Florida State, and Georgia. - AllStar Report
