3/21/00: "...7'1', 320 pounds from Long Beach City JC was rumored to be going to UCLA since arriving at Long Beach City JC but we hear Moore is now looking at Missouri and Cincinnati. The New Jersey native Moore committed to Rutgers last year but failed to qualify academically and was at or rumored to be going to about five or six different prep schools before settling at Long Beach City JC. We hear UCLA is still in the picture for Moore but with Josh you never know. Where ever Moore goes to college, he should have a big time impact." recruitingbeat.com

8/11/99: "7-0 Josh Moore Will Not Attend Rutgers Josh Moore, the 7-0, 290-pound center and member of the Rutgers men’s basketball recruiting class, will not be attending Rutgers. Moore attended St. Thomas More Prep School in Oakdale, CT. last season where he averaged 8.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Prior to attending St. Thomas More, Moore played at St. Anthony High in Jersey City. On Tuesday, Moore met with Rutgers head coach Kevin Bannon and Moore indicated to the Rutgers coach that he would like to continue attending prep school. "After meeting and talking to Josh, he said he wants to go the prep school route," said Bannon. "He feels it’s in his best interests to get in another year of academic work. I’m disappointed, but he feels that’s best for him." - Rutgers official site

Nov 11, 1998: Listed as the 37th best HS player in the country, by Prepstars. (DerMarr was listed as 15th, Satterfield as 23rd and BJ Grove as 99th on the same list)

Summer 98: Played on the same team as Kenny Satterfield, DerMarr Johnson, Johnathan Bender (Indiana Pacers) and Jason Kopono in the 1998 adidas ABCD Camp.

6/12/98: "Moore is a 270-pound behemoth who seemed to be developing rapidly for coach Bob Hurley Sr. at St. Anthony's before he was dismissed from the team late in the season for rules violations. Whether Moore returns to St. Anthony's or transfers, he's surprisingly mobile for his size and has the ability to score in bunches from 10-12 feet. Speculation links Moore with nearby Big East schools such as Seton Hall, St. John's, Villanova and Rutgers. Moore, though, recently indicated he's "wide open" on a college decision." - Brick Oettinger
