03/25/05: "Loudonville center, Kyle Gillette, is being honored as the Sprint Athlete of the Week. The 6'8" inch senior had the performance of his high school career in the Division III state semi-final last Friday. Taking on the powerful number one ranked team, Cincinnati North College Hill, the pesky Gillette didn't go quietly. He knocked down 27 points and grabbed 19 boards, outpacing the better-known trio of O.J. Mayo, Bill "Sky" Walker, and Keenan Ellis. In the first half alone, Gillette posted 17 of his team's 21 points. Congratulations Kyle Gillette, our Sprint DSL Athlete of the Week." – WMFD.com

03/18/05: All week long the talk was that Friday's Division III state semifinal between Loudonville and North College Hill would be the O.J. Mayo show. Someone forgot to tell the Redbirds' Kyle Gillette that, however.
The 6-foot-8 senior stole the show from the Trojans' sophomore phenom by posting a game-high 27 points and an even more impressive 19 rebounds. His rebound total set a new Division III single-game record, breaking the old record of 15 set by Bishop Ready’s Justin Brown against Sardinia Eastern in 2002 and tied by Versailles' Paul Borchers last season against Bellaire. The 19 rebounds also ties the semifinal all-division record set by Samaki Walker of Whitehall versus St. Marys Memorial in 1993.
Loudonville senior Kyle Gillette goes up for two of his game-high 27 points during the first half of Friday's Division III State Semifinal game with North College Hill. Gillette set the semifinal record for most rebounds in a game with 19, but Loudonville bowed out of the tournament with a 75-42 loss. "Kyle had a tremendous game," Loudonville coach Mark Schlabach said. "The big key was when (Keenan) Ellis went out with two fouls in the first half. We did a really nice job of getting Kyle the ball and he finished them off. Kyle really stepped up, played more physical and had a great game. He was the one who kept us in the game in the first half."
"On offense, coach was telling me to pump fake so I just tried to do my best," Gillette said. "I tried to be aggressive on the boards and go after everything. I just wanted to do my best." With Gillette's performance on the center stage, the question was asked "What's next?"
"This will, hopefully, get him some good exposure," Schlabach said. "Kyle is getting a lot of interest from all across the board. Most of it has been Division III or NAIA, but with the way Kyle has been playing recently, he is getting more Division II and Division I coaches calling. I would think this game will only help him." - Mount Vernon News
03/16/05: Named Honorable Mention in Div 3.
03/10/05: "Gillette, according to Loudonville's statistics, had a triple-double for the Redbirds, who held off the determined Vikings to register a 48-47 win in a semifinal of the Division III regional basketball tournament Thursday at the Canton Memorial Fieldhouse. Gillette scored 20 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked 10 shots. Gillette's most-important contribution came when he blocked a baseline shot by Todd Rowan with less than one minute to play." - Mansfield News
