09/15/04: "Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas State, Nebraska and Duquesne, I think I'm set with them," Walker told PrepStars.com (3 to 1)
09/10/04 "Walker averaged 27 points, 5 assists, 4 steals and 3 rebounds per game last season. He's scheduled to visit Minnesota next weekend. Other schools seriously involved include Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois and Cincinnati." - theInsidersHoops.com
08/27/04: The Bearcats' top priority now is to recruit a point guard. Players now scheduled to visit include: 5-11 Byron Eaton, Dallas, TX; 5-10 Devan Downey, Chester, SC; 6-1 Jo'Van Adams, Houston, TX; and 6-1 Marcus Walker, Kansas City, MO." - HoopMasters.com
08/02/04: "Walker has a more immediate decision to make. He has been considering a transfer from O'Hara High School to tradition rich Mount Zion Academy in North Carolina, which churns out Division One players annually. "I don't know yet,” Walker said when asked about the transfer. "I haven't made that decision. I haven't had a chance to talk to my mom about that much yet." He says he will probably decide where to go to school for his senior year in the next week. As for the rest of the summer, Walker feels like he's come on very well recently." - PowerMizzou.com (Missouri)
08/01/04: "In order to continue to play with Rocktown, Walker and Criswell — local standouts last season at O'Hara and Piper, respectively — had to attend summer school at Mount Zion. Both players haven't decided whether they are going to return to school in Kansas City, but Walker said he benefited from the experience. "It helped me, because there were a lot of Division I prospects on the team and coaches got to see me as a point guard," said Walker. . ." - KansasCityStar.com
Spring 2004: "Junior sharpshooter Marcus Walker. . .captured the DiRenna Award, given annually to the metro's top boys' basketball player, announced last night by Dr. James A. DiRenna, Jr., as the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association annual banquet. Walker averaged 26.9 points last season, leading the city in scoring and helping his team to a berth in the State Quarterfinals. He has already set the O'Hara career scoring mark, with more than 1800 points in his first three seasons." - KCMetroSports.com
05/28/04: "Kansas City O’Hara point guard Marcus Walker heads into tonight’s opening games of the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions armed with a load of talent and a top five. The lucky five left in the running for the 6-2, 180-pound point guard are Arkansas, Marquette, Illinois, Iowa, and Duquense. "I’ve gone to see a lot of places unofficially and had a chance to look everything over and that’s the five I’ve come up with," Walker said. “Now I can just start concentrating on those five." - theInsidersHoops.com
05/09/04: "Walker, a combo guard from O'Hara High in Kansas City, Mo., had KU on his original list, but he said the Jayhawks' stock had fallen since former assistant Norm Roberts left for St. John's." - KUSports.com
01/24/04: "Like many in the Class of 2005, schools are likely waiting for Walker to play his way into an offer. High-majors are continuing to evaluate him. Likely a combo guard on the college level, he appears more comfortable in the role of scoring guard though he says he favors being a point. On Friday, he had one assist as we counted four chances that could have been finished for him. Walker will take a series of unofficial visits in the coming weeks. He’s going to Oklahoma State 'soon' and Marquette in 'mid-February'. He’s been to the local schools and the next time Kansas State has a weekend game at home he’ll be there." - theInsidersHoops.com
