03/01/04: "As Midland College prepares for the postseason, 6-7 sophomore power forward Englebert Cherrington has become a key spring recruiting target for many high major programs.

A native of Belize, Cherrington averages 12.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game for a 23-6 squad. "He's not putting up great numbers, but he is averaging a double-double," Midland College Head Coach Shannon Hays pointed out. "Because of our depth, he's only playing about 25 minutes a game."

Cincinnati and Georgia have extended scholarship offers to Cherrington. According to Hays, he's pledged official visits to both programs following the end of the season.

JUCO Junction identified Cherrington as a mid to high major prospect last October after watching him at the Mullen/Mitchell Jamboree in Dallas. He's strong around the basket, draws contact and can face up reliably to midrange. "He's definitely improved from first semester to second semester," Hays said. "He had 22 points and 14 rebounds against South Plains, and he's played very well against man to man defenses."

In addition to Georgia and Cincy, Hays said that Cherrington has offers from Oregon, Colorado, Baylor, Penn State and Arizona State. Texas and Arkansas have also shown interest in the South American power forward.

Cherrington took just one official visit in the fall, so he could use up to four more this spring. JUCO Junction will keep you posted on his visit calendar as it becomes clearer in the coming weeks." - Juco Junction

12/27/03: "is averaging 8.1ppg and 10.3rpg for Midland College, a juco in Texas. Cherrington has started all 15 games for the Chaparrals. Prior to the season he was named one of the top 16 prospects in the WJCAC, and is reportedly being pursued by several Division I programs." - Latinbasket.com

Summer 2001 - Englebert showed good strength in the low post. He has a wide body and he uses it effectively inside. He sees the floor well and does a good job with interior passing. He is a good athlete and he moves well from end to end." - BBhighway.com
