02/25/04: "Hatila DeSouza, a 6-9 power forward out of Laurinburg Institute via Brazil, could sign a high-major scholarship this spring. Then again, he might not. It’s kind of complicated.
"That’s one of the things that I have to explain,” Institute coach Rolando DeLaBarrera said. “What I’ve been telling people is that he’s interested in playing possibly overseas and I mean playing in Europe if the opportunity presented itself. 11/11/03: "Hatila De Souza has had a number of high-major scholarship offers this fall, but according to his coach at Laurinburg (NC) Institute, Rolando De la Barrera, De Souza will not sign until the spring period. "His mailouts are Texas, Cincinnati, Mississippi State, so on and so on, and he's had like four high-major offers, probably even more than that," De la Barrera said. "He's going to wait until the late signing period, basically to get his stock up, and I think he's better than his rating."
