06/18/04: "Hatila DeSouza, a 6-9 power forward out of Laurinburg Institute via Brazil, will go to Dixie State College (Utah), according to Laurinburg coach Chris Chaney." - theInsidersHoops.com

02/25/04: "Hatila DeSouza, a 6-9 power forward out of Laurinburg Institute via Brazil, could sign a high-major scholarship this spring. Then again, he might not. It’s kind of complicated.
"That’s one of the things that I have to explain,” Institute coach Rolando DeLaBarrera said. “What I’ve been telling people is that he’s interested in playing possibly overseas and I mean playing in Europe if the opportunity presented itself. If something like that presented itself he would be interested in that." So far, it’s been quiet on that front but the forward is in wait-and-see mode. “He has people that want to recruit him. They’re interested.” Georgia, South Carolina, Cincinnati and maybe even Texas are among some schools that could jump in quickly." - InsidersHoops.com
01/03/04: "The unsigned senior had 8 points and a dozen rebounds. At this point, we’ve seen him enough to know what he does: he’s a rebounding machine who can defend inside. Offensively he’s limited but he’s got a high-major body and will be a power forward-center for someone provided he doesn’t sign overseas." - InsidersHoops.com
11/21/03: "he’ll be a big time spring target. In fact, the University of Texas dispersed an assistant on the school’s campus Thursday afternoon." - theInsidersHoops.com
11/11/03: "Hatila De Souza has had a number of high-major scholarship offers this fall, but according to his coach at Laurinburg (NC) Institute, Rolando De la Barrera, De Souza will not sign until the spring period. "His mailouts are Texas, Cincinnati, Mississippi State, so on and so on, and he's had like four high-major offers, probably even more than that," De la Barrera said. "He's going to wait until the late signing period, basically to get his stock up, and I think he's better than his rating." De Souza, a 6-9, 236-pound BF, arrived last season from Brazil as a 215-pounder and as his stature has grown, so has his game." - PrepStars.com
12/28/02- "This native of Brazil had a solid showing. He was able to score on the post, often utilizing some quick post moves, and rebound against some good post players. He has long arms and looks to have the capability of being a shot-blocker, and should get better with added strength." - Hoopville.net Slam Dunk To The Beach notes
