  • Oscar's triple double record

This happened a few days ago but Russell Westbrook of OKC not only broke Oscar's total number of NBA triple doubles in a season but he also clinched a triple double average for the season matching Oscar's achievement from the '71 season. Oscar has congratulated Westbrook.

averaging a triple double was one of those achievements that would never be repeated. seeing how hard westbrook plays each game is an interesting contrast to players on more talented teams getting rested this time of the season...and makes me appreciate Oscar's achievement even more.

Records are meant to be broken. Glad Oscar approves.

It was 1962. I remember getting Oscar's autograph when the UC team came back from one of the tournaments.

He said recently that he would have had twice as many points if he could have dribbled the ball like they do now. Can you imagine where he would have been if he played 4 years? And what about he and Pete Maravich with the 3 point shot.

Talk to him some time and ask about the difference between how assists were awarded back then versus now. If they counted them the same way back then as today he'd have a number so high no one would ever approach it.
