This might seem like a reach for a thread this year but fortunately CBS ranked every team.

Looks like we're a field horse. At least we can pull the upset on Miami Oh. It will be interesting to see how Miami reacts to not being a cellar dwellar pick. The pressure is on!

With an average ranking around 72 and the median ranking 81, there's not much we can do but go up. We play 7 teams with higher/better ranking, but don't face Houston (47), Memphis (49), or Tulsa (60) with USF and Navy highlighting conference play. Even if we "win games we're not supposed to win" it won't matter unless one or both of those teams are USF or Michigan (slim chance to nil).

Why does this matter? There's another thread on local tv coverage. It's not that the local media doesn't like UC, they think it won't bring in ratings like talking high school, tO$U or Noter Shame. We could 9-3 this season losing only to Michigan, USF, and Navy AND still only see ourselves ranked in the top 50 of any expanded rankings without a spot on the conference championship game.

Also, I think 89 is right place to be ranked given poor performance last year, and few "impact player" newcomers. I am confident it is the wrong number for all the reasons discussed in many threads about coaching, fundamentals, and the really decent talent on this team.
