Can anyone who knows more about college athletics help me with this: Is college basketball like college football in terms of scholarships and LOIs that they get? I ask because I know that teams in football (mainly the SEC) give out up to 9 more scholarships (I think that was Miss St.) then they are allowed to. If college basketball is the same way - and the way Calhoun seems to be getting kids to transfer out it is - then it will come down to the coaches convincing McClain to play here instead of him falling into our lap.

They will be getting a true center. Just be patient.

I guess that we don't need a true center. We just need lots of wing
players because the two best teams in the BEast don't have legitimate
centers, just Gray and Hibbert. To be competitive in the Big East you
NEED a legitimate center. Louisville, Georgrtown, Pitt all have
centers. All we are bringing in are 6'6" slashers. Even in 2008 which
is supposed to be Mick's year all he has is a 6'7" SF and no real impact
players.

thread back to McClain. What makes this player so special and perhaps
so critical for UC to land?
