Also, as for the pg problem.... what problem. It looks
like they have a pg for every occasion. Warren- steady
ball-handler with low turnovers. Vaughn- an improving
sophmore with good ability to get into the lane and
score. Henry- a tall, athletic, point forward that
could create tough mismatches. Getting some guys who
can score is what they desperatly need and they just
got one in Mitchell.

Pete,

Thanx for the cheer. Now could you put a little
substance to your post?

What are you expectations? How does this recruiting
class exceed them?

What makes this recruiting class "great"?

It's odd because I see more questions than answers.
Given the two greatest
needs - a 5 and a pg, this class comes up empty so
far.

From what I read, it is not clear that everyone in
this class will be suited
up come Midnight Madness.

So given those expectations - 1) we would recruit to
meet needs and 2) we
recruit players who will be good student athletes,
it is not clear how good
this class is or will be.

Finally, before you shift the debate - note, I did
not say anything about
Cronin's ability to recruit. The focus of this
thread is the class that we
have. So, let's leave aside any distracting
responses, and focus on the
quality of the class.

I look forward to your constructive, well reasoned,
and substantial
response.

Some say that I'm a downer, I think this
demonstrates I'm an optimist.

Once again.... Mick Cronin has gone above and beyond
my expectations. He did an amazing job putting
together a competitive team this year and is now
putting the finishing touches on another great
recruiting job. There aren't many young, beginning
head coaches out there that could have recruited to
a
decimated program the way Cronin has been able.

Six players are scheduled to return next year,
with
Williams and Hrycaniuk added, for a total of
eight.
That leaves five available scholarships, given
that
everyone returns. Three are already spoken for by
signees (Belton, Bishop & Davis).

On his final radio show Monday night, Mick said
he'd
sign one, two, or possibly three, players during
the
spring period. He couldn't mention names, but
Jason
Henry and now, apparently, Alvin Mitchell have
verballed. That makes thirteen, given that Henry
and Mitchell actually sign on.

The only way Mick could sign a third player
(Anthony
McClain, perhaps?) would be if something happened
in
regard to an existing scholarship holder or
signee.
Who knows what that could turn out to be?

A very good commit if he actually signs. Two
questions:

(1) Assuming Mitchell signs, do we have any more
scholarships to give for
next year?

(2) If not, any chance that Cronin will run
somebody off to make room for
another signing?

Wasn't there another Alvin Mitchell who played
for UC in the late
1990's? Anyone remember?

I'll try to get more details later.
