Timmy Crowell is a name being thrown around to go academic. Also, remember that all of these guys have to qualify academically.

If McClain wants to come to UC there will be a spot for him. No fact behind that, but if even a decent player who is 6'11" wants to be in Clifton it will happen. Akol still has interest, but it sounds like he will go prep next year.

FYI - Bearcats were up 7-5 after four at UK, but are now up 7-6 and UK has 2nd and 3rd with one out.

Six players are scheduled to return next year, with Williams and Hrycaniuk added, for a total of eight. That leaves five available scholarships, given that everyone returns. Three are already spoken for by signees (Belton, Bishop & Davis).

On his final radio show Monday night, Mick said he'd sign one, two, or possibly three, players during the spring period. He couldn't mention names, but Jason Henry and now, apparently, Alvin Mitchell have verballed. That makes thirteen, given that Henry and Mitchell actually sign on.

The only way Mick could sign a third player (Anthony McClain, perhaps?) would be if something happened in regard to an existing scholarship holder or signee. Who knows what that could turn out to be?

A very good commit if he actually signs. Two questions:

(1) Assuming Mitchell signs, do we have any more scholarships to give for
next year?

(2) If not, any chance that Cronin will run somebody off to make room for
another signing?

Yes, he played one season in 1998/99 and was integral in the win over
Duke with a huge 3-ptr with the clock running down late in the game. I
believe he left for personal family issues.

Wasn't there another Alvin Mitchell who played for UC in the late
1990's? Anyone remember?

A good source told me that Mitchell committed today.

I'll try to get more details later.
