So I gather the situation is attributable to UC's senior administration, as
well as the current AD, would that be a correct assumption?

I am not completely sure, but Hathaway chose his words wisely I think:
"That said, UC officials are reluctant to blame the current situation on
past coaches or players."

Basically because you cannot blame the past coaches. UC's APR was either
over 925 or acceptable (I think it was 918 once but was considered ok for
one of the crazy reasons they have) under Huggins. Most of the issues are
a
result of players leaving due to dismissals and coaching hire handling.

I am not sure what the difference is, but I understand a player who leaves
in good standing is not as harmful as a player who simply leaves.

Jon, I'm not sure I understand how this works - UC says it took the
scholarship hit now because it has 2 open scholarships anyhow - but if,
as
estimated, they don't come in to compliance until '08, are they subject
to
losing another (or the same 1?) next year, without any opportunity to
get
it
back until the following year?

Per an Enquirer article which I don't have the link to UC lost a
scholarship
in basketball recently and are now just putting out the word. Due to
several
players leaving after Huggins got fired UC fell out of compliance
with
the
ARP deal. Hall being on scholarship and then being declared
ineligible
triggered the whole deal I heard. Don
