#1 APR score = 13 scholarships x 4 points each = 52 maximum points.

You get 1 point each semester that a player is academically eligible to play, and another point each semester he actually returns to play (or graduates).

If a player transfers, you lose 1 point. If he quits and becomes academically inelgible, you lose 2 points.

925 score = 48 points out of 52 (maximum).

UC was at 917 in APR score after 2 years (2004 and 2005). But 2006 was devastating for the 3 year average. Several transfers, several quit, several became academically eligible.

#2 the Top 10 list was posted to remind UC fans that UC is a Top 10 team and one (or two) years below that level won't change that. Mick Cronin will have UC back knocking at Top 10 in 2008 (I think).

#3 Huggins recruited Ohio players. He signed more of them in the 1990's but he tried for them in the 2000's also. If not for the changes in 2005, both Adrion Graves and Bill Walker would be Bearcats today. No doubt in my mind.

#4 Don, I think Mick Cronin can win more games than Tony Yates with his eyes closed. Yates was a solid player and a great recruiter (with help from his assistants Lincoln, Grant, Hamilton, etc). But he was a mediocre coach. Mick is a very fine young coach. No comparison to Yates at all. BTW I'm 55 now.
