Re: Bone to pick with official UC athletics website

I wonder what the goal of www.ucbearcats.com (I think it is now
gobearcats.com) is. My guess is that it is functional, but the main
goal is to increase interest in the program.

By having the videos - that I luckily can't get because my work blocks
them out - they are most likely thinking that it will be a better
experience for someone visiting the site.

Not saying that it doesn't drive me nuts (I am sure it would if I went
there at home), but I don't think we are the target for the website.

I've seen other sports related sites that start video automatically, but
they have a "turn video off" ability that is retained in the cookie.

I've had some problems using Firefox (and I'm not going back to IE).

I really don't like how it automatically loads and plays a video
stream
when
I go to the home page, the basketball page and the football page.
Even
worse, sometimes when you go to the basketball or football page, it
loads
a
"preview page" first that also contains a video.

I wish there was a way to turn off all of the videos. If I want to
play
them, let me control it.
