Going forward, Coach Cronin is not handcuffed and I would argue that he
wasn't beforehand either. Handcuffed to me means that he is limited to
recruiting only certain types of players. I don't believe this is the case.
I will agree that he was put at a significant disadvantage in his first year
because of the very short time he had to recruit players and build a
roster. Going forward, this will no longer be an issue.
In years to come, he will be able to fully exploit not only the benefits of
being in the Big East but also the benefits of Varsity Village which has
been referred to by those outside UC as one of the finest athletics
facilities in the country.

However... Now that you mention it...it was in reference to the fact that
the administration killed any recruiting momentum of joining the big east
and momentum toward being a leader in the big east by their actions.
Cronin has been 'handcuffed' by the administration by being handed a
broken
program... One that wasn't broken before.
Clearer now :)

Dan I am totally surprised, you of all people to bring up the term
"handcuffed". Is this another case of the typing being ahead of the mind?

I think some have already "exited" on this years team. Sorry couldn't
resist.
It's tough to get excited about a team that is handcuffed....

Like it or not Mick Cronin coaches his first (exhibition) game as UC Head
Coach tonight at 5/3rd Arena. Mick is the present and foreseeable future
of
the UC Bearcats. Posts on this board are dwelling on bygones, early 2nd
round exits, who won the most games the last 6 years, etc. It is time to
wake up and realize that Bob Huggins is not coming back. I will be one of
the probably about 5,000 at the game tonight cheering on this years team
and
putting faces to the names. It is time to move on and put the past in the
past. It is time to get exited about this years team and the Mick Cronin
era
of UC basketball.
