I *think* you fall into the same trap that I often do when reading a message
on the forum. I am sure there are a very few folks that think everything
that transpired for for the best of the program. There were some
Huggs-haters out there that were glad to see him go at any cost (monetarily,
prestige-wise...). However I think they are very few and far between.
More often, I knee-jerk react to a post, as saying that, when in reality
they may just be looking on the bright side. (Side note, if you can see
Spamalot the musical, good show... one of the songs in "Bright Side of
Life/Death" lifted from "Life of Brian"). My new personal policy is to
re-read, and try to think of other posts the poster made. Kind of hard to
make Keith, for example, to be a Huggs-Hater with that policy.
I think most can accept the fact that the admin did a horrible job managing
the situation (99-44/100% would agree, I think), Andy Kennedy was treated
poorly (~90%), The adminstration and President are Arrogant.... oops,
straying off topic... :-)
But there are still positives out of current situation. I think, and
probably many agree, that Andy would have made an excellent choice as HC of
the bearcats. However, let's be open to the positives Mick brings to the
situation. More Head Coaching experience (OK, not much more, and at a lower
level). Also, Mick is a 110% homer for the Bearcats. I feel strongly that
the only way we lose Mick is if he gets fired. This is his dream job.
Certainly, to some extent, this would have been fairly true with any coach
now that we are in the BEast, but still a positive.
On the Huggins front, I will certainly follow him for years to come, and
hope mentions of him continue intermittenly here in a positive light, but he
wasn't perfect. His offensive coaching left something to be desired, he had
limited success in the NCAA (though we could list quite a few HC that were
considered the same until they finally won, wasn't Dean Smith in that boat
before Jordan?). So, hopping that the Bearcats do better offensively, and in
the NCAA once we get back is NOT the same thing as saying "I sure am glad
they got rid of that Huggins..."
I guess one of my big worries is what will happen when the next issue comes
up. You know, when a player under Huggs or Cronin does something stupid
college athletes have done for years. I imagine it is a matter of when, not
if, and then we'll have more "fun" discussions here.
What can i say... I am a collection of apparent paradoxes... :-)
I support the Bearcats
I do not support the Admin
I support Mick
I support Huggs
I support Andy.....

Oh my- my. I hope you enjoy what is yet to come and remember when
they would
win 25 games in a year...lol. I want what you are smoking if you think UC
doesn't make the tourney last year. People eventually will learn, it is
going to
take some pummeling on ESPNU and on Fox and then watch the former coach
who
as Keith so eloquently spoke of that couldn't get out of the second round
to
continue to win as usual (on ESPN/national tv) and when they end up
playing
in the final four or for the national championship then they will have
'another' reason that UC made the right decision. This is all soooo sad
IMO and some
are really convinced that "it's all good at UC". Huggybear says "Hey".
:-)
The funny thing is everyone that says it's all good **WILL** watch KState
EVERY TIME they are on tv...lol...I know they will and they will
be wishing
that things never had changed. But they will never admit it on
this forum.
That's OK, we shall see if the admin. made the right decision. ;-)
GO BEARCATS and criminal justice program!
