When you see both logos together, the old one looks dated. I agree the new logo is much cleaner. It has grown on me as well.

I don't think these opinions on the new logo and the new mascot are universal. You are certainly free to not purchase new UC gear if you don't like the new look. But, I suspect that there are others who feel just the opposite.
